NOT!!!!

I have read this board for only a day and so far just about every post ends up flameing afk entertainers. My god people get over it. Untill publish 10 there are going to be afk entertainers probably even after it so quit youre crying about it. Crying will not stop them, being rude will not stop them, flamming them when they ask for help on the boards will not stop them. Best you can do is use youre ignore function or just help them along so they will leave that much faster. I have heard that entertainers are the rudest people in the game but untill i tried to grind it out i never knew it to be true. WELL I DO NOW.

I agree with your sentiments concering the complaining- all that angst and animosity hurts the profession more than what they are complaining about.

I will however, try to paint a better light of entertainers. There are some wonderful entertainers around - many of whom are my friends. In fact, the mostwell-adjusted and fun-loving entertainers seem to be those who run or work in player city cantinas (not exclusively, but as a rule). I'm not sure why this is, but possibly its a competition thing - as opposed to service. Entertainers in big cities feel like they have to compete against all the others (including afk'rs) while entertainers in player cities have learned to relax and enjoy what they do - play, dance and focus on the customer - rather than the crowd of afk'rs.

The truth is, there are rude, angry ppl in every profession... but It is sad to find themin what is supposed to be a social profession. Maybe that's why the problem seems more prominent here.

I can't speak for everyone, but I don't think that most people care too much about the sole fact that someone is afk entertaining. It's the things that people do while they are afk entertaining that bother people. For example, the "please group me" and "please heal me" spam is annoying. Having a leader go afk so that a live entertainer can't join the group is annoying. And, those that make entertainer avatars for the sole purpose of becoming a buffbot and taking business away from a live entertainer is annoying. I truly believe that if people didn't do any of those things, and just afk'ed without annoying other people or taking away their business, then the vast majority of entertainers wouldn't care and you wouldn't see the arguing and flaming. A little consideration and a concerted effort to not make our environment less pleasant is really all we're asking for. And, like I said, I can't speak for everyone else, but I would have no problem whatsoever with someone afk'ing if they never spammed and didn't create buffbots.

I agree, the afk please group me, please heal me, leaders is annoying.

As for buffing, it was impossible to find an entertainer to give you a buff. So I feel that the entertainers have nothing to complain about. When I ran my Buffbot macro I was actually sitting infront of my computer, but I got 1 star on my thread which had it on there. So much for trying to be helpful huh?

I don't know, but even the macros...I personally have no problem with it. I have my own buffing macro, I think most people do, or they will find one such as yours and find it very helpful.

I think that the problem of not being able to find people to buff is kind of a vicious circle that was brought on by the afk hologrinding in the first place. Back when I first started dancing, my perception is that it was *easier* to find an entertainer to buff you. Not everyone may have that experience, but it was mine. But, as soon as the hologrind and the afk went into full force, I noticed a mass exodus of live masters leave the Cantinas because the environment became so unpleasant. This brought about less people to be able to buff you, and then more people decided to create buffbots. I just don't think you can really blame this on the "real" entertainers. After all, if people didn't do the annoying things that they do while they were afk, you may very well still have all the masters in the Cantinas on a regular basis and have no need whatsoever for the buffbots.

My fear though, is that when the hologrind is over, so many masters will have left or dropped, or so many people will have gotten use to the afk'ness and the buffbots, that our professions will have been ruined past the point of no return. If the afk'ness had never happened, we may not have had the need for the plethora of buffbots that we have now.

My only request, really, would be to reconsider using afk buffbots and encourage the real entertainers to go back to the Cantinas and prove to them that they are actually worth something again. See if things turn around after the hologrind is over. Believe me, if there's such a thing as "self esteem" in this game, the current entertainers are at an all time low. And that's why we appear to lash out from time to time. We feel so completely undervalued at this point precisely because of the afk and the buffbots that we have all but given up. I truly believe that if there was a place for us again to provide these services and we felt like people really appreciated the atk'ers you'd find more of us there to provide your buffing needs. As it stands now, many of us wonder why we even bother trying to play when we can't even use our own buffing skills on ourselves, and the buffing skills we have for other players are no longer considered useful due to the buffbots.
