Thread: What do the songs sound like?

Hey guys and dolls, a bit of a question.

For each song, each instrument sounds different. Also, each flourish has a musical effect that sounds different as well.

What I'd like to know is... What do the songs sound like when they're played properly? I mean, not the random cacophany in the average cantina, but a band with every type of instrument, and using bandflourish 1 to 8 so that everyone plays the parts in sync rather than randomly.

Does anyone know? Has anyone played any of the songs from start to finish?

Where could I find out?

Well I love the full band bandflo sound sets. Others prefer doing arranged targeted bandflos. These are the two mainways of approcing band arrangements.

Depending on your server, you should look at the "band listing" post and see if there are any local bands on your server. Contact the leaders of said bands, and find out the next gig or rehearsal or jam session. Conversly if there are a couple masters who hang out in a cantina...see if they can pull out droids and give you a sample. With droids, 2 masters can sound like 4, and there are only 5 sound sets anyway.

If you are on Chilastra, I can be a good person to contact, however that is only a 1 in 22 chance.

I enjoy using the targeted bandflos myself. They are especially useful when trying to sync up movement (example: the spin flo for horns is different than the spin flo for bandfill). I have pages and pages of notes on which flos sound good with each instrument on each song, how long pauses should be before or after each flo, etc...maybe it's about time I got around to entering that into the computer so it can be useful to others.

In case you do not know, you can visit www.swgentertainer.com and you can find all sorts of info about entertaining in Star Wars Galaxies. Whether or not anything like what you're asking about is there, I do not know. I do plan on adding sound clips of the various instruments, songs, and flourishesthis weekend if no one else gets around to it, but I don't plan to do any full-fledged songs...

The songs sound much nicer with a band that's at least semi-organized. With even a little imagination, you can have solos, band call-and-response,staggered entry (one instrument, then a duet, then a trio), not to mention /bandflourishes.With more than 6 or 7musicians, things start to sound muddy to me.

A good band can look good, too. A really good band can time costume changes, effects, flourish animations, droid effects, and chit-chat so that it really looks like a good show.
