It's almos tlike they come to our boards just to see how they screw us next....bunch of peeps have have been posting how much fun it is to sit in the starport and while people are bored actually get a chance to ENTERTAIN. Seeya....grats to the hurry up and grind crowd.

Is it me or does SOE not seem to know what the RPG in MMORPG is?

In that case... A good song should be able to be completed in about 3 minutes, just as most songs form RL bands. The first 2 minutes can be used to setting up, and then the performers ends as the shuttle arrive with just 10 or 20 sec for the audience to clap and cheer, and of cause the obligatory bow to the
Audience.
Do not work in Theed with the instant travel. (so now all starport will become like theed?)

I can understand your frustration with the lack of RPG, but I haven't noticed a terrible problem with this. Admittedly, with a longer wait for the shuttle, you get a better crowd to watch -- and sometimes they were even appreciative of your services. It would be nice if starports acted like camps, that is to say you could cure wounds. Then we would be even more appreciated.

Overall, though, I think the starport wait time reduction is a good thing. I was worried about it for those wanting to operate their own shuttle services when JTL comes out, but I suppose the devs just aren't concerned about that.

And if they were terribly concerned with RP, they wouldn't have originally implemented a path to jedi hood which encouraged a play style contrary to the jedi ethos.

I've expressed some reservations about this on the Correspondent Board. I think people vastly exaggerate the amount of wait time currently required. It's a 10-minute *maximum* wait time, and it's usually less. Theed has no wait at all -- and as a result, no shmoozing or entertaining by the shuttle. Also, JTL was supposed to provide an alternative to shuttle travel, but why bother with a JTL alternative now?

I guess it's just frustrating. Musicians & Dancers are always looking for new ways to be loved by the masses, aka the entertainers we are. As we fully come into something it gets quasi-ganked. I know the move was not a bad thing on the whole, and a move made for the masses, but why does it constantly seem like an unintentional nerf to us? =P

My musician for the past 9 months has been hanging round starports and other odd places for my entertainment to the masses and now it may not be worth the effort...5 minutes, tsk tsk

Actually this may be SOE's first step towards removing buffbots. One of peoples (and mine,) biggest arguments has been that with buffbots gone, Entertainers may be hard to find. Lower shuttle times will make that much easier.

From a different point of view, I love the change, I talk and socialize with plenty of people in the game, but if I am in the Starport, I am going somewhere, I want to get there not sit around and wait. It was very frustrating to have that door close in your face and have a 9:59 wait.

I think the Devs were simply looking for ways to keep people ATK more and more, and 5 minute shuttle waits were a viable reason for more people to "stick around". Although I do agree it was fun seeing an 8 minute timer and forming a small group at starports and enjoying the show. Sadly, once JTL hits, no one may be waiting around at all for shuttles (just pulling out their ships and going).

I organize an event called the "Starport Jam" on Bria and I don't really see this 5 minute thing as a big problem for entertainers entertaining at the starport. The simple fact is that, regardless of the delay, people who want to listen/watch will and those who don't won't. With the shorter wait times I actually think it will be better. People will be more willing to skip a shuttle to watch the dancers and musicians since they don't have to wait as long for the next one.

Really the time doesn't matter. I still feel the love from my adoring fans!

JTL may not kill shuttleport crowds, here is why.

Now lets say I am going to check my Harvesters on Naoob, I am going from Dant. That is 2 5 minute shuttle waits. Then I go check my Harvestors.

or

I could pull out my ship and fly to Naboo and check them. The question is, will it be instant, or will I need to fly there? How long of a flight, will I maybe need to fight on the way? If it is not instant, it may actually take longer then 10 minutes to get there.

It all depends how it works. Planethoppers will probably still use the Starport system.

Wait time doesn't matter!

We had a Starport Jam on Bria... right next to the Theed Ticket Collector. Believe it or not, we drew a crowd. People run into what is normally an empty hanger... to see a band and dance troupe in full ensemble. The people who care will stop and watch and miss their shuttles. Those who don't care, will ignore you whether the wait time is instant or 1 hour.

That's stretching too far lol. Brians have done a wonderful thing with the entertainers, but on other servers (and believe me I love to entertain, with or without my instrument) the mentalities difer. That's not a mentality to not try, mind you, but often on Wanderhome when I entertain outside the cantina its a one-wookiee show =P.

However your both indeed correct, I noticed last night people will still miss the shuttles to be entertained, as I said, a rarity on Wanderhome...

Yeah, a one-Wookiee show probably isn't that entertaining. Even I might shy away from that

The key to successful entertaining is in numbers. At the Cantina Crawls and Starport Jams on Bria we regularly get 30-50 people showing up. People stop because they see a horde. After they stop from the sheer curiosity they get dragged into being entertained. Force in numbers, I say! Start up your own event on Wanderhome and you might get some more attention

If my brother didn't have a toon on Wanderhome I'd for sure come participate. I suppose I could bring his toon and just be a spectator...
