Does anyone know of a fix for this macro nerf, besides 3rd party programs? ie. a way to set up the macro properly?

Make a macro that's decently long, then have it send yourself a /tell when it's done that says "restart the macro" and hit the key again.
You can also have the macro do /echo to put up a message on your screen, or use "/alarmaddin h m message" at the beginning of the macro to sound an alarm when the macro has finished.

Neat!

Super neat! Thanks

Wut you can do is this... Make a general flourish macro for your grind, and copy paste the 8 flourishes and pauses many times so that it works for a long time. Make another identical flourish macro, but at the beginning, put a /pause state that waits until the first one is ended to begin it's flourish sequence. It will be a lot of macros, and cutting and pasting, but I'm figuring you could get a group of macros on an entire pane of your button bar to last a few hours if worked properly.

Except they're talking about adding a time limit on the duration of macros. So, no matter how many pauses you put in, it will still only run for 5 - 10 mins.
It's too easy forAFKers to run X ammount of macros to keep buffing 23/7.

Actually, the devs really haven't said how exactly they're going to do it. They've discussed removing /macro commands, and other times they've mentioned putting in a stack depth check, and other times they've said a time limit.
Basically, no one knows how exactly they're going to go after the recursive macro, so no one knows how to "get around it".
I think the original poster's best bet is to use 3rd party software, after posting in his server forum that he's going to be doing that and using /planet to advertise it. Pretty soon after that he won't have to worry about getting around it anymore.
