repost from a long thred start on off thred on the topic

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

yes newjedi and I talked adn the fact that Sonny is a leader in the music field adn a strong defender of music copywrite law I think this will not be so

so the next question for the legal eagles is what about old songs realy realy old songs

how far back do you haev to go beofre you can use a song?

I know a lot of realy good bac, batoven, and chicosky songs vogner has a lot of tunes that can be starwarsie

what about old long ded composers?

im not talkinf our own system but a remix system or jsut using the songs themselves diffrent instruments to make them more SWG like hummm?

the point would be to have a huge library of songs that the DEV could take and use for some nice new songs or a system where we cant take thiese and do remix type of stuff

anyway I hope we can get some new songs and a lot of them

there are more clothing types there are more weapon types food types droid typesmineral types ect... then we haev instruments and songs

we need to be as destinct from eachouther as we can be and the more songs the better

I hope we can get a stedy stream of new songs so people will want to gather in canteenas for more than jsut a quick fatuge healing then dash out

I'm hardly an expert, but my understanding is that music composed before the twentieth century is in the public domain. Unfortunately, however, recordings of that same music are almost all protected by copyright laws. Sony will still be concerned that someone will upload Gould playing Bach, or Barenboim playing Chopin, or whatever.

The more I talk to copyright attorneys about this subject, the more pessimistic I become. The only workaround I see is some sort of copyright ombudsman -- someone to screen uploads for copyright violations -- but that would be prohibitively expensive even if it were possible for someone to identify copyrighted material in a reliable way.

Like I said in the other post yes it seems not possible for us to do our onw songs

I ws just thinking that The Dev could grab up some clasic realy old stuff from long ago composers (I love old celtic and irish) the greats bac shpan chikoski and pree them even twist them to a SWG beat (not all of them) and woola new songs

Guess im jsut realy lookingforward to some new stuff we haev less things to make (ie songs) then every other class has items in there building tree

Id love to have the same number of songs as there are fods the cook can cook or outfits the tailor can make or all the weapons types that weapon masters can make

We can do 3.5 professions and when two are entertainer and musician its ruff to compete with the other professions wiht the remaining 1.5

I believe after a certain period of time, music becomes public domain and people can use it without the consent of the owner to "remake." 20 to 25 years or something like that.
