Thread: Master Musician XP Boost

I've noticed that master musicians have the ability to boost the XP of the other dancers and musicians they are grouped with. But this is a voluntary act, the master has to do something, it doesn't just happen. What is it that they do? I just hit master and I don't know how to do this. I'd like to be able to spread the love.

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

As far as I know, any higher skilled Musicians can boost the XP of those lower than themselves. There's a few contributing factors in how much XP a player gets per "tick":

  1. Are they in a band?

  2. How big is the band?

  3. How many are playing instruments?

  4. What's the highest level instrument being played?

  5. Are other people /clap or /cheer ing them?

  6. Are they healing other players?

In the case of #4, if the entire band is Slitherhorns and someone comes along with a Chidinkalu Horn or Ommnibox, the XP per player goes up.

Its the /change bug. I'm sure there are lots of posts about it around here as to the exp offshoot from using it.

Actually any person joining the band, musician or dancer, will increase the xp gained per flourish. The amount increased seems to be dricetly proportional to the skill of the musician or dance (so masters boost it greatly while novice entertainer only a little). They only have to be playing or dancing for the effect to occur. You can actually see it vary from flo to flo if someone stops or starts playing/dancing in the interim.

That is correct. And I reported to Taurin as an exploit (since it is) about a month and a half ago (around 7/10). His response was "This is a known issue already and is being worked on. Thank you however for the heads up."So far, it's taken a month and a half to fix, and counting.

Yet another item to cheapen the Master Musician branch, alongside AFKMing, in my opinion.

And it's not specific to Master Musicians--can be done at any level of music.

Just some few numbers.

I'm a master musician.

Alone with 2 flo per tick I gain 50 XP...

With an other master I earn 100 XP...

When I was younger I used to play in very large band (but since master I'm fed up with the SW1 slitherhorn so I avoid it usually or play ommni - much better than Nalargon to the audience) and I gain third the xp I earn alone... So 150 XP with the ommnibox

Everytime I'm coming in a cantina to have fun and boost the new ones... There is always one or two jerks who tell me "plz can u type /change rock ?".
I hate this bug... It trivialise the nalargon sound and cheapen the profession even more as AFK entertainers"

Sorry, I didn't realize it was a bug/exploit. I thought it was a cool little thing that masters got to help others along. I definitely won't do it anymore now that I know (and I've only done it during one session at the cantina at that). I agree though, it does make the band sound horrible.

Apparently though it's such common practice (at least on Bloodfin) that oftentimes other musicians are suprised when I pull out my nargalon, start playing, and don't "drown everyone else out". They've never heard the Nargalon played properly in a group, sans-exploit/bug.
