Thread: Musician mission completion requirements analysis

Here's what I found while hanging around Narmie this afternoon. The audience was non-existent, so I decided to make a little bit of credits from the musician missions, and also thought I'd check on the completion requirements.

After a bunch of instrument/song combinations from Nalargon/Virtuoso to Mando/SW1, I found that the mission completes after ten minutes of playing, regardless of flourishing. On the Nal, I racked up about 2600 experience by doing continuous 2 flourishes per tick (with a sunburn thrown in the middle so I wouldn't run out of action). On the mando/SW1, I played only the base loop, racked up zero experience, and still completed the mission.

Then, I decided to check on whether the accumulated play time was retained when you stopped. I played for five minutes, then did a /changemusic. The mission completed after five more minutes (10 total from the start). Finally, I played for five minutes, stopped, waited a minute, and restarted. Ten minutes after the restart, the mission completed.

So all you need to do is to play anythingnon-stop for ten minutes, taking breaks from flourishingif necessary to keep from running out of action. Well, that's assuming that your stamina is high enough to regen while playing only the base melody loop.

Oh, I don't blame you. I spent 3-4 hours on this, and only made a couple thousand credits. The whole point is I wasn't doing anything better, so I played around with the entertainer missions. I made more with one Sunburn sale during that afternoon than all those missions.

Still, ten minutesto completea mission isn't too bad, now the devs just have to get the payout into the 4-500 range without having to specialize in a weapon. =\

Guess I left out a few details. No, right now they are *not* worth the money. Musician skill does *not* raise the "difficulty" or payout. Although I've heard (but haven't personally confirmed) that if you have at least 4 skills in a weapon and have that weaponequipped, you may get higher payouts. So say you have the "Pistol Specialist" skill (4th skill of Marksman's pistol branch), if you equip a pistol before opening the mission terminal, the payout jumps. Any Musician/Weapon-eers out there have any input on this?

And for the testing I did, I just kept hitting refresh until I got two missions to the same in-town hotel so I wouldn't have to pay shuttle fees.By refreshing a lot, I could get 170-190 (with the occasional 200) credit missions as a Master Musician + Master Entertainer.

The entertainer mission payouts have been a thorn ever since they added the mission terminals, which was when the payout got nerfed. Before that, you got the gigsfrom the Noble NPCs in the theater and they paid about 400-500. But you could only get one at a time, so that may have been the rationale the devs used to reduce the terminal mission rewards.

Not to totally pick apart your statement sciguyCO, but you could and still can get 2 entertainer missions from the Nobles at the same time (at least in the Dearic theater). One had to be a dancing mission and the other had to be a music mission. I used to do it all the time while working my way up the entertainer tree. Was nice to be able to earn 800-1000 creds for 20 min work without having to pick up a gun for hunting or self-defense. Now though I have picked up the pistol tree and only play music to heal the BF of my guildmates/friends, myself, and anyone sitting in the cantina until the former has been accomplished.

I do love playing music and jamming, but it just doesn't pay the bills once you get a taste of what you can earn with a gun or selling resources.

I try to get missions with an elite carbine equipped (I'm MM/ME and novice carbineer too). I try to equip a chidinkalu... No difference.

The most pay out is still under 200 credits.

Before the implementation of the entertainer terminal, gig missions payed up to 500 credits for 5 mins of play.

Now to earn the same amount, you have to play 25 minutes.

That's why I boycott them.

They don't want us to earn money ? Ok.

People don't tip ? Ok.

Now I play music only for the pleasure of hearing music. When I want to do something else, I don't care if I'm the only entertainer around and 20 people waiting for BF heal. If any tips, I stay. If no one tip, I leave.

And please don't flame me because some people think we are beggar, we have to play music and no tip involved, bla bla bla...

I choose a PROFESSION not a hobbit.

As a profession I need a way to earn my life. If music is hobbit for you it's ok. But others think different, respect them.

So true Shaavik.

Its even worse once you hit master. If your exping up you might as well take them just for some income since your going to be in the cantina anyways.. but whats the incentive to stick around once you master.

Credits? we all know thats a joke

Social Aspects? you don't need to be a poor musician/dancer to be social heck you don't even have to be in the cantina.

Exp? Not needed once you master.

No reason for me as a master to stick around in the cantina, there needs to be some rewards for playing all day. There needs to be alot of things added for the entertaining classes to keep us around once we hit master.. but then again.. you can say the same for alot of classes... what do I do when I hit master...
