Thread: Devs:Music and Sound is disappointing
Well I've finally reached master musician and been going over the exisinting tunes with the Narlagon, what a disappointment :/
Everything sounds either like a church organ or steel drums, not very Starwars if you ask me.
Also, isnt there any percussion built into the Narlagon? If you playing solo you cant use it really, as there is no beat.
My last gripe is the songs. As I've posted before we need more electronic music tracks in addition to all this traditional jazz/rock stuff. The only thing I've heard thats remotely like what I would call electronic sounding is the Chidinkalu Horn on Jazz.
Come on SOE get it together. Hopefully there will be more in the next publish. I feel we've been ignored for a long time.
More instrument is nice, but dont make them string, brass and wind based. Give the SOE music designer a kick up the backside and make him experiment more.
I have to admit I don't love every tune on Nalargon either; in general, there's too much steel drum for my taste. But I like the organ/electric keyboard sound on SW1, Rock, and SW3, and I especially like the piano sound on Virtuoso (even though I prefer the drum and chil horn tracks on that tune). And I for one am happy that another instrument (bandfill/ommni) has the percussion.
Of late I've been pestering the devs with increasing frequency about the need for new songs. (Yes, I continue to pester them about all five issues on our list, but increasingly I hear Musicians asking for new songs.) With the new private Correspondent forum and Correspondent PA on Test, I hope to get a chance to pester even more often.
But it would indeed be helpful to know what kind of new songs people want. This is, of course, very much a matter of taste; I happen to like traditional jazz, classical, and rock, so the current mix generally suits me. I also think the current mix reflects the Star Wars music tradition of John Williams, Max Rebo, etc. But you're not the first person to suggest to me that we need more electronic tunes. I've also heard people chime in (heh heh) in favor of heavy metal, R&B, calypso, reggae, sacred music, choral sounds, etc. So: what kind of new music do people want?
Hiya Jedi
Tunes!!!!!! Woooooo!!!
We definetly need a few more rockish tunes. More lively upbeat tunes.
I'll never complain on more Jazz either.
Something with a raggae flair to it also.
Possibly something with aRockabilly kinda beat.
Rhtym and Blues perhaps.
Thanks for all you work on this!!
I'm not sure it would even be possible with the flourish system, but how about StarWars4: Duel of the Fates? I think this would fit nicely into the Music Knowlege II skill box. The horn, stringand percussion parts are covered with existing instruments, and the vocals can be replaced withsynthesizer sounds from the Nalargon.
Songs I would like from starwars.
The gungan victory song that plays when you get all four disks and hand them in is quite good and I would love to be able to play it or a song like it.
Imperial march not the kinda funked up spazzy starwars3 version I am talking the more menacing ebil sounding version.
or heck there are hundreds of good songs from the starwars movies that could be incorporated into swg as well as non starwars tunes.
Of the songs I can currently play I like ballad on just about everything folk the same, ceremonial on the mandiviol and the fiz sounding horns and sw1 on the mandiviol.
It is funny but sw1 is one of the few songs I can really jam on with my mandiviol. To bad the horn bloop bloop bloop bloop beat drives me nuts after a bit.
