I'm 2 skills from master musician, so don't even try and flame. Now you can flame the following, I don't care. I earned my level by being at my comp the entire time. I DO NOT afk-perform, and those of you that do make the rest of us look bad, and are killing tips for those of us that actually play the game. Enough said.

An AFK performer is killing tips for people like who "actually play the game"? You must be a poor entertainer. Try smuggling.

I hate afk performers... please everyone, never ever tip an AFK performer, even if you have to watch them and heal from them.

I agree with tanizaki. You gotta be a pretty poor performer to complain about AFK tip issues. heh. Have you thought this through? Most tips go to dancers because of the skimpy outfits. I can stand there all day tooting my horn, sitting at my comp, talking to guests the whole time, and guess how much I make in tips? A couple hundred on a good day. So, why should I sit there all day for a bunch of no tipping bums when a macro can do it just as well?

On a side note. just because someone is AFK doesn't mean they aren't there. I have my AFK flag on all the time. I do other things besides stare blankly at the screen. I do email, watch tv, or whatever. The AFK flag is to tell people to enjoy the show, and go about your business. If you wanna be a chatty cathy, be a dancer.

I would have agreed with this a couple weeks ago, but after macroing in a usually empty cantina all night I got plenty of thanks from people who had come in for healing.

AFK macroing in the middle of theed cantina isn't very nice, but it can serve a useful purpose in those small town cantinas where there is rarely an entertainer present.

AFK performing is the reason I don't go into cantinas to socialize.

It's really depressing seeing all those pretty blue twilek dancers with a giant AFK above their head but still mysteriously dancing away...

You know, I NEVER afk perfmormed, UNTIL I hit my master musician.. now folks might ask me why do I afk entertain, if I don't need XP...

Well, first off, I don't do it in a cantina.. I do my performance in a medical center, and here's why.. I have a LOT of doctor friends that need medic XP, so, in trade for all the crates of stims folks have used on me over the course of my career, I give something back to the medics because they can earn as much xp off me as they wish, if they want to. I've even gotten tips from medics for doing this (promptly /tipped back, of course, but usually the medics fight me on this and I end up taking the tip for ease of it)... it's one way of providing a good service..

I have also performed on some of the more dangerous planets where entertainers usually aren't, such as dathomir or lok, just so that people can get their wounds healed while there.. afk entertainers can serve a purpose, but I agree, afk entertaining for XP shouldn't be done.

you'll want that until you decide to create a combat character, and go to hunt anywhere out of the main cities... when you're all wounded and need an entertainer to heal, good luck waiting for one to show. Many times I have gone to some cantinas/taverns in remote areas where the only entertainer was an AFK person playing/dancing.

If they nerf it, I just hope they also add an NPC entertainer in all cantinas/taverns (make it novice level entertainer if you want) so I don't have to wait 2 hours for the mind wounds to go away

I recognize your altruism, in that you seem to genuinely want to give back to the medical community, and as a mid level medic myself, I appreciate that.

But they nerfed creature healing XP (actually, removed it entirely) because CH's were sending their high-ham creatures against strong enemies that they could barely damage, so their doctor friend could keep healing the creature and get medical XP all day long. So what you're doing might be viewed as an exploit similar to the creature/doctor exploit.

How people use their time is not my affair.

But...

I have no issues inviting folks to jam with me and make a Cantina band.

Just dont expect me to downgrade my tune to sw1 for hours because your afk. I cycle tunes for my audience. If I message entertainers in the group for a tune change and your afk and 5 minutes later you still are well then /stopband

If I got folks having fun and participating but can only play sw1 I can deal with that via instruments etc

I dont think thats unfair any thoughts on that?

Quiet out of the way cantinas people rockin solo afk thats none of my buisness

AFK macroing is fine with me, as long as you are in a remote room and not emoting or telling or saying anything. If a desperate soul is looking for healing s/he will find you. If other entertainers are playing at the main room they won't be bothered be your presence in the back. I joined the entertainer ranks because we aren't competing. If you make master faster than me... well, great, teach me There are no dance duels and I can't 0wn you on my slitherhorn. XP is fine, but how other people earn it is not my concern.

The problem is rude or uncaring people who park their bot right in the middle and start their emoting/saying macro. It's a special breed of gamer that only the anonymity of the 'net can produce. They are rude and nasty. It's not the macros fault. It's their fault. If they are rude or harrass you, /report them. Send them an email saying you don't like their behaviour. Take action. Don't come here and complain if you never did something against it in-game.

AFK performing never really bothered me to start with, well apart from the wawa noise of the slither when someone wasn't flourishing often (thank god for /band). But once in Theed cantina there was theis guy on a ommni, quite early on a server that had only been up a week, maybe week and a half, and someone asked how he got so far so quick

"Oh I AFK macroed most of it, like I was going to waste my time just pressing buttons"

Now that comment really annoyed me, know how long i had been at my computer working my other charater up to MM and MD.

If you don't have fun "just pressing buttons" to get your XP, then what makes anyone think master is going to be fun? It's the same thing! You get a cool instrument and song, but you still have the flourishes and the same game mechanics. I don't understand the point of AFKing. I don't think the AFKers do either, really. They think it is a fast way to get to master so they can...what?
