(I hate it when this forum double posts and I cant erase one)

this conversation happens more often than you'd think...

Master musician playing Nalargon in the Moenia cantina... enter Noob1

Noob1: "Hey! Can I get a buff?"

MM: "ok, one sec..." MM targets noob1 and the Narg stop playing..."Dammnit!" takes out Chin horn, targets Noob1 and /setperform. "Ok, buffing, it'll take about 5 minutes to ensure you get full buff."

Noob1: "5 minutes?!? A doc can buff me instantly!"

MM: *sigh* "yeah I know it sucks, but whatcha gonna do?" MM waits 5 minutes."Ok buff should be done, you can stop listening now."

Noob1: "Stop llistening?? I have to listen?"

MM: "....uh, yes you have to listen. I'll start again. Use my radial menu to start listening and stop when I tell you." Wait 5 minutes. "Ok stop listening."

Noob1: "#$%! you buffs suck! Status says only 30 minutes left!"

MM: "did you start listening when I told you to?"

Noob1: "Mostly... I had tells from my guild. I listened at least a minute. This stinks! Can you re-buff?"

MM: "Sorry, have to wait til it wears off."

Noob1: "Dang! You suxxors! No tip for you!"

MM: /ignore Noob1

To tell the truth, TH, I love being a musician, but I can't stand buffing! I can't tell you how many time I've had a buff fail and have to start over. It's especially a pain if I spent the last 20 minutes buffing a group! No group is gonna sit around for 40 minutes in a camp for a buff!I'm not a new MM either, so I know how to do it. I can do a 3 minute buff, but I find 5 minutes give more reliable results. It would be a HUGE help to at least see...

BUFF IN PROGRESS

flash accross my screen ever few seconds. That way I at least know that somthing isn't goofed up in the double blind interface between buffer and client. Currently, I have to spend my valuable game time buffing someone and HOPING nothing goes wrong. Currently, I only buff friends and turn off my master title if I go anywhere. It's too much of a pain when when a buff fails.

I walk people through the process everytime so there are no problems. I tell them to listen, and dont start the buff until they say "Yes, I'm listening", then I do /setperform. At the end, I tell them to type /stoplisten and confirm they are buffed.

Haven't had a problem yet.

They tell you they're not buffed.

Tell me how you prove that they are.

A Musician buffing interface is a necessary addition to this profession, and we just got the shaft on an answer to a question we didn't even ask.

Oh, but now we have the official word from TH - Musician buffs show up on the stat sheets, and a buff icon appears in the buffs window for the recipient. In case you didn't know anything about being a Musician. What a helpful statement by TH.

Pfffft.
