Thread: TH didnt even answer our question for the week or did i just misunderstand him.
But the part about us wanting a buff timer so we know if the buffs are working or how much longer we have. The only answers he gave pertained to the buffee knowing if they were buffed after the buff not if we know if its working.
I mean come on
"And would it be possible to improve the buff interface so that we can when we're buffing properly, how much time remains til the buff is done, and (most important) whether the buff actually worked? Whether or not a player is buffing properly or if it worked will be displayed in the buff icon window and the character sheet. If the icon appears and your stats change, then the buff workedAs for the displaying the buff duration information in the buff window, the answer is “not at this time”.All the UI programmers are working on JTL
Not even close to the question

See my thread, because this makes me sick. TH's answer insulted me, and it should insult any Master Musician who's ever picked up a Slitherhorn in the first place. Here's what I posted:
Will Musicians get the ability to buff their own Focus and Willpower? Also, can we get our buffs to last as long as Doctor buffs -- say, three hours? And would it be possible to improve the buff interface so that we can when we're buffing properly, how much time remains til the buff is done, and (most important) whether the buff actually worked?
Musicians will not get the ability to buff their own Focus and Willpower. As the system currently exists, if players could buff themselves, they would get experience points every time they buffed themselves and that is bad design. In the future, Keldarin wants to change the system and then it would be possible. As for extending buff durations? It is hard to say since much of this will be changing with the combat balance.
Whether or not a player is buffing properly or if it worked will be displayed in the buff icon window and the character sheet. If the icon appears and your stats change, then the buff worked. As for the displaying the buff duration information in the buff window, the answer is "not at this time". All the UI programmers are working on JTL."
TH, you didn't answer the question. The issue is not for the RECIPIENT of the buff to see a buff interface, it's the MUSICIAN who needs to know if it WORKED OR NOT - and needs to prove IT DID WORK WITH A SYSTEM MESSAGE.
Here, I'll make it really easy for you. Let's call the "buffee" TH, and the musician or "buffer" Warryyr:
TH: "can you musician buff me, Warryyr?"
Warryyr: "sure! 5k for a buff! It'll take about 8 minutes."
(TH tips Warryyr 5000 credits)
(TH listens, Warryyr /setperforms, and Warryyr plays for 8 minutes)
Warryyr: "/stoplisten for your buffs, check your buff windows and stat sheet to make sure it worked."
(TH sees his secondaries are buffed, and sees an icon in his buff window.)
TH: "It didn't work - and I have to run. Tip me my money back."
(Warryyr can't prove TH's Mind secondaries are buffed. There is no "proof" his buff worked. He can't see TH's mind secondary stats to prove TH was really buffed. He has no idea if TH is trying to scam a buff. He has no choice, he has to tip back or face the possibility of being griefed for being a thief, possibly affecting future clients.)
The above problem is at the heart of this question - I don't think you really read the question. Dancers know that their buffs worked because the MIND BAR JUMPS when their buff applies - MUSICIANS SECONDARY BUFF, TH. How do we prove that another player's secondary stats are actually buffed? How do they prove they're not? See? Understand, now? AHHHHHHH. Now please, answer the question - Musicians NEED to know that their buffs worked! I've had buffs "thieved" from me this way, I KNOW IT. A whole group did it to me once. They got their money back and free buffs - I played for literally 20 minutes for a group of 5 - and they all /listen, and i'm grouped with them. But, the claimed none of them got their buffs, and I didn't want to argue because a bunch of fighters had just run in, and they were needing buffs too. The group got free buffs. Can I prove it? Not without a BUFF INTERFACE for MUSICIANS. Every other buffing profession can SEE THEIR BUFFS TAKE EFFECT, unless a doctor only buffs a secondary - BUT THEN THEY GET THE SYSTEM MESSAGE "You enhance SOandSO's Quickness by 2140" or whatever. WE NEED THAT FOR MUSICIANS, FOR GOD'S SAKE.
Please respond, this totally sucks with the current Musician buffing system.
Thank you for actually making an effort to address the concerns of all these professions. I really do appreciate that. But your "answer" to our question was nothing less than INSULT. WE KNOW HOW OUR CUSTOMERS TELL IF THEY'RE BUFFED - THE POINT IS, WE GET BUFFS THIEVED FROM US WITH NO EFFORT.
Man those answers are pretty rich. I read our's first, and found it mystifying, but all the answers suck. Every single one of them.

Nothing shows up inthe buff icon window if a player is buffing properly. Only afterwards. If the icon appears and your stats change, then the buff worked.Who does he thinking he's answering here, again? You're answering the questions for people whogive the buff not receive it!As for the displaying the buff duration information in the buff window, the answer is “not at this time”.Holy mama! Our buffs show duration in icon window, already, you big dummy! All the UI programmers are working on JTL. $$$$
It's amazing, completely amazing. Thunderheart: sko idiot?
Are these devs for some other game, the one I'm not playing?
I honestly think he should stop answering questions, it doesn't instill much confidence when he comes off so clueless. I have a month to decide, but I'll probably be cancelling.
Just imagine the flak they'd get if they tookaway the doctor's ability to self-buff. Also, tell me if I'm wrong, but docs don't get xp for buffing themselves, right?
I know there are fundamental differences between doc buffs and musician buffs, but it's an unfair double standard that should be addressed.
To further illustrate the stupidity of TH's response about self-buffing. What other profession can't utilize their own talents for their own xp/benefit?
The truth is:
Doctors get xp for healing themselves (1/2 the usual xp).
Weaponsmiths get xp for making their own weapons, which they can use.
Bio-Engineers get xp for making their own bio-stuff and pets, which they can use.
Creature Handlers get xp for taming their own pets, which they can use.
Medics get xp for healing themselves (1/2 the usual xp).
Armorsmiths get xp for making their own armor, which they can use.
Artisans get xp for making their own vehicles/tools/components, which they can use.
Droid Engineers get xp for making their own droids, which they can use.
Architects get xp for making their own houses/harvesters, which they can use.
Chefs get xp for making their own food/drinks, which they can consume.
Image Designers can ID themselves and get 1/2 the xp.
Tailors get xp for making their own clothes.
NOW - If anyone could explain how Musicians getting a trickle of xp for buffing themselves, and that xp is limited to being received every 2 hours (we can't "overbuff" a previous buff) HOW IS THAT GOING TO DESTROY THE GALAXY.
What stupid responses to genuine questions from the Musician community. First answer, totally and completely ILLOGICAL. Second answer, nothing but MISUNDERSTOOD AND TOTALLY INSULTING TO US.
1) NO REASON WHY WE SHOULDN'T BUFF OURSELVES EXCEPT AT THIS STAGE OF THINGS, THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT OUR PROFESSION. WE'RE NOT ALONE - READ ALL THE "ANSWERS." JTL = MAIN FOCUS = TOTAL ABANDONMENT OF ENHANCING SWG FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS.
2) IT'S A NO-BRAINER ON HOW TO STEAL BUFFS FROM A MUSICIAN - THERE SHOULD BE A SYSTEM IN PLACE TO PREVENT THIS.
How would Merchants like it if someone bought something from their vendors, then demanded their money back for the item because they said they didn't get it - and the Merchant had no recourse because they couldn't prove the item was even obtained? OH, THEY'D THROW A FIT. So that's what I'm doing. I'm tired of being played for an idiot and giving free buffs. This is so very wrong.
