maybe it's just me but isn't Vasarian Brandy negating players needs for entertainer buffs? I think a lot more people would seek entertianer buffs if they couldn't just pop a brandy and get incresed mind pool. what do you guys think?

I know where you are coming from on this issue, but I don't think that Brandy is any real competition to a musician buff. I know thatmyself and my hunting buddies always prefer a musician buff over Vasarian Brandy.

First of all, brandy prices are outrageous. Brandy also stacks with a musician buff, and so does Canape. If someone was serious about mind, they would get a dancer buff, musician buff, take two brandies, and use canape as they fight.

What everyone does have a problem with, I think, is finding a good practicing master musician to buff them. That's if they know the benefits of a musician buff to begin with. I think musicians need better advertising, for one. The population that needs serviced by musicians far outweighs musicians themselves. The player city registration for musicians doesn't work. The AFK plague means that you can rarely find a good practicing musician in the two main cantinas (Theed and Coronet).

Vasarian Brandy doesn't replace musicians. It is just usually easier to find and apply. If I have an option, it is going to be a Master Musician Buff.

Musicians buffs are 'way' better than brandy.

Ever see that guy doing pvp that absolutely noone can kill? Swordsmen, riflemen, TK's using the head hit, and he takes them and about 6 others down all alone? Yeah, he's got brandy. He's also got a dancer buff, a musician buff, canape, and a muon gold on the side in case of emergency. They all stack, and the smart players (and usually the ones who are willing to pay for your services) know this and use this often.

I hate to harp on something that everyone on this board I'm sure hates, but I actually enjoy. First of all, I don't practice this, but I've seen it happen A LOT.

Here's the deal, entertainers, esp these days, are honestly NEVER available for buffs. It's a RARE time to find an ent that is actually buffing. Unless that ent has turned him or herself into a buff bot. On my server, AFK buff bots run 23 hours a day in Coronet's Cantina. There are always tons of spatials asking for invites and lines waiting for the next.

If we actually had at the keyboard buffing entertainers, I'm sure that people would like to use them more. But, there are so few around that, I for one, would rather buff myself with my musician or visit a buff bot to get buffed.

And, honestly I wouldn't be so sure that musician buffs are *that* much better than Brandy. I think, on a good day, Brandy can hit the 400+ range in buffing. And, a lot of mind secondaries aren't much higher than that to start with.

And, to the person that said that brandy prices were so high. Let's think about this for a sec. I pay 110K for a crate of brandy. Let's say 25 to a crate...25 uses each. If ya do the math to split up the number of hits you need per buff and the number of buffs in a two hour period, you come out with approximately 125 GOOD buffs (that could, easily, more than double your mind secondaries). Now, for the most part, I know that musicians and dancers only ask for tips for buffs. But, I'd say that an average ent buff runs anywhere from 1K to 3K credits. So, let's say 1K for each type of entertainer for a single two hour buff. That's 2K for two hours. Well, using brandy (which esp for secondaries can easily more than double your focus and willpower) costs less than 1000 credits per two hour buff.

Brandy honestly isn't priced that badly.

Ok, so having a Master Musician character myself, why do I hold Brandy so high in regard? Simple...it's stackable...just like Canape is. So, dancer + musician + brandy + canape = a fighter who's mind primary will rarely ever move.

Either way, I wouldn't count Brandy out as a replacement for Musician buffs in that they can easily do as well as if not do much better than musician buffs. Speaking of which, I saw some Brandy tonight with 330+ MFW buffs per hit. That's 660 per buff per stat. That actually more than doubles my fighter's mind stat right there.

Yup, that's me right there. You don't see me on the music boards much speaking for my Starsider character, but just so you know, he's a Master Doctor Mon Cal. I try to never head out on a hunting trip without Music and Dance buffs in addition to V.B., Canape, and Muon. As a doctor (and often the only doctor on these hunts) I don't have a lot of time to worry about my mind, because I have to keep healing damage, removing states, diseases, and poisons, and if I don't do my job right, performing ressurections and re-buffing people. With all of these tasks using mind, I usually can't afford to be without Music and Dance buffs because if I die, everyone dies, and then a lot of time is wasted in trying to get everyone set up to head back out again.

The only time I don't pick up Music and Dance buffs is when I can't find a person to do it. (Don't get me wrong, there are lots of buffbots around, but if I use one of them, you'd better check the weather reports, because you will find that hell has not only frozen over, but has alsoreached absolute zero.)

Like others here have said... negating is the wrong term. They both have their advantages (cost, availability) and disadvantages (duration, filling). I'd say that VB hurt Muon Gold market more than Musician Buffs. But in the end, all mind-buffing methods play well together.

Well i'm a master musican Anian and you're right i don't spend much time in cantinas buffing but the reason is that i can't compete with the Buff bots. If i walk into the Coronet cantina with my Master Musican tag up no one will ask me for buffs because they're all huddled around some AFK buff bot. Often i'll even anounce that i'm buffing and won't even mention tipping and still no one will respond. So i'm not sure that you're right most players would rather get buffed by a person behind a keyboard. The AFK'ers are essentially making my profession obsolete, the only real thing i ever use it for is to get rid of my own BF and for just the fun of playing around with the songs. I'm hoping that sometime in the foreseeable future the Dev's will do something about the AFK'ers,

Well to add my persective from Chilastra...

I spend a great deal of time in Coronet Cantina. Yes I'm a glutton for punishment.

Since the brandy hit, I have seen my buff business go from needing to hide my title, to sitting in the cantina with my tag upfor an hour or two and doing one buff. I have also seen my average tip for buffs drop from 10K to about 4K.

I still do them, and I still offer them. In Coronet on Chilastra there are not even any buffbots around, so I have to assume that people are gettign their music buffs from bots in player cantinas or they are using brandy and canape and muon and doing without. Either way, it is not a good situation and I think both the bots and the brandy have destroyed what was a good moneymaker.
