Thread: my thoughts on the next question for the 19 questions

Since we got slammed with a no to self buffs I think we should ask.

"In the last 19 questions we were told no to musician self buffs. We would like to know how our class is balanced against doctor, an elite healing buffing profession, which we also are, since they can self buff and we can not."

I simply can't see how its remotley fair that docs are health/action healers with self buff power, and we are mind/bf healers with no self buff power.

Even if musician buffs required a limited use instrument that took some resources to craft, which would balance somewhat the fact that docs require charged use items to buff. We should still be able to self buff, or docs should have the ability removed.

Otherwise there is no hope for a combat support musician, we are forced to sit in the cantina for eternity praying for tips.

I'm open to suggestions on what to ask next. That said, while I sympathize with your point of view,I don't think we'd get any more satisfactory answer on the self-buff. The devs are aware that doctors get a self-buff while musicians don't, and they still wrote the answer the way they did.

I'm really more anxious for a clarification on the buff interface: I'm not sure the devs ever completely understood that we were asking about our OWN interface, not the recipient's. But again, I dunno if we should spend a precious "question" on a follow-up on that.

It might be best to ask a new question -- maybe just go down to the #3 issue on our top five list, or maybe a top issue on our original "10 questions" list. Me, I'd prefer to ask a more "specific" question (nalargon/ommni targeting, say) than a more "general" one (AFK'ing, content), since I can guess what they'll say to general questions. But I'm open to suggestions.

If the devs did not understand the idea behind the buff interface question, then I think we should try and rephrase it. I'm boggled that they did not get it the first time, though. I thought it was clear, however. Maybe the meaning was lost in translation between Thunderheart and the programmers.

I'm all for rephrasing the interface question. Do NOT specify it should be a UI interface. I guess our money goes to their expansion pack efforts with Jump to Lightspeed - since "all" of their UI programmers are focused on that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I was paying to play SWG. I find that a rip-off, but oh well. Fine, if that's so, they're ripping us off. /sigh

We need to get notification and confirmation we Musician buffed someone. It is nothing but inexcusable to allow a Master elite profession to rely on a customer's honesty to know if our service was provided or not. That's absolutely inexcusable. It's way too easy to rip off a Musician.

Here are my suggestions for a non-UI notification for Musician buffs:

1) Just create a system message that says to both parties, upon completion of the Musician buff, "(insert name here) enhances your Focus and Willpower by XXX." This would also point people to their stat sheets to see their buff ( no more repeating countless times "check your stats to see if the buff worked").

2) As the Musician buffs, a littlesymbol thing (like what appears when Medics/Doctors heal patients) drops over the head of the patron. Make it a different color from the Medic/Doctor one, so it's discernable to the Medic/Doctor heal thingie. Let's say it's Green, since Action is what we expend to Musician buff. This green thing would fall on top the head of the buffee every minute while we buff them. This would solve a few things, such as:

a) No one knowing if a Master Musician or Master Dancer is buffing or not. How many Spatial spams do we see in Cantinas that /shout "ANY MASTERS BUFFING IN HERE?????!!!!!!??????" every 5 seconds? No one knows if a Master Musician or Dancer is buffing. Docs at starports are easily noticed due to this feature for them. Immediately, people walk up to Doctors when they see this symbol falling onto someone (and the -130 in blue numbers pop up over the Doc's head) and they ask the Doctor "can I get in line?"

b) We would know that, in fact, we actually are doing something useful with our time. This would be a vast improvement over wasting both our customer's time and our time trying again, and again, and again to get the buff to work. If the green thingie didn't start falling onto the head of our patron, they're not /watching or /listening. Then we can say, hey, listen to us dangit - without getting the response "I am."

I can't imagine this would be so completely complex.

Please, NJ, we need this issue addressed.

Also, tell the Devs that Musicians are now quitting since self-buffing is being ruled out for such a petty reason. That's a shame. But understandable with the current attitude towards Musicians by the Devs.

I wholeheartedly vote to get the ease of ripping off Musicians addressed and corrected.

Rephrase the buffing interface question. It need to be dealt with, and soon.

I say we just don't ask any question, out of protest. It doesn't matter because Thunderheart wouldn't answer it anyway. Or maybe the musician question should be, "My boyfriend wants to know about the combat balance. What is that?"

How about asking about Force-sensitive entertainers? We entertainers don't seem to get a lot of help from the Force...
