The buffbot in Theed recently has taken a vacation and so I have done a lot of buffing in there recently. I team up with a fellow dancer and provide a buffing group. Now before when I would advertise in this same cantina when she was there I would only make 10K for a few hours spent in there. The following is a list of interesting things that have happened in the last few days.
1. I made money!!!. I can spend a few hours in there and make 150K. 10K vs. 150K? That is enough to motivate me to come buff in the cantina once more.
2. Tell, "How do I ask you to buff me?" Reply, " You just did
"
3. Person runs into cantina in a panic, "Where is the buffbot? What am I going to do now?" My reply, "Guess you are going to have to settle for live entertainers instead."
4. In a discussion over me being a live entertainer I am asked, "Can't you just be here 24 hours a day?"
5. "How long until your next buff session begins?" Well, one nice thing with a live entertainer...no waiting! Invited and he starts getting buffed.
6. "Can I get on your customer invite list? Its too much trouble to ask for a buff"
7. As word gets out that live entertainers are making money in Theed, more start showing up more often.
8. "You mean you can play more than one song?"
9. "Please! don't play virtuoso! That is all the bot plays!"
10. "What? you can do song requests?"
11. "Please buff me quick, I am in a hurry." Once buffed he lingers. I ask why. "That song is too cool! And I love the fire!"
12. "What? You mean I have to pay you? I don't pay the bot"
13. "What is that big thing? You can play it?" (In response to me playing my narlagon)
14. "What do you mean you only buff 112%. I want more than that!" (Now to find thos elusive skill tapes that are just lying around...)
15. In a tell, "Can you give me all the instruction on how to use you?"
16. "I only know how to use a bot, I don't know how to use a live musician. Will I still be able to get a buff?"
17. "I am in a group and can't leave it. Guess I can't get a buff then?" Great thing with a live entertainer...I can always do a /setperform and you are on your way.
18. I have seen an increase of people visiting the cantina and not to just get buffs butto visit with us as well and with the other patrons. Even those who used the bot before because they were in too much of a hurry before.
19. I am sure there are more I could share, but this last one is my favorite of all. "Wow! I didn't know live entertainment could be so cool! You guys rock! I am using you from now on when your in here."

HEY, where were you when I needed you, lol! I use the bots when I cannot find live ones, which is a big problem.

Very cool, hopefully it keeps up.
It can only get better, as the grind dies, more afkers will go hopefully. A lot of the AFK bots were probably grinders trying to make money while they weren't playing.
Hopefully soon the cantinas will be yours again.

Oh if only we could force the buffbots to take a vacation... this story brings a tear to my eye.

Well, after "wasting" about six hours in the Theed cantina on Saturday night (Saturday morningUS time) playing with a group of at-the-keyboard musicians and dancers, I can tell you that people are really re-discovering how much fun dealing with live entertainers can be.
We'll fix the buff-bots, just you wait and see.

hey Muria, glad you're still around
(I am too, just not on ahazi much
) I should come visit you some time
some of these things you listed are outright silly... but I've seen people like that o.O I've been spending time in theed cantina on Bria, and actually receiving tips. entertaining in public cantina is improving

Do you think it may be because less people are grinding now? Many have given up, may still get better.

It does amaze me how quickly peoplehave becomeacclimated to the buffbot mentality. Even some of my former guildmates in TF, after having live entertainers available for months still come in sometimes and think they have to group us. . . .

The other night, before the Buffbot came into Coronet, when I was actually able to sell my services, I had several people try to group me. I kept rejecting the invitation, of course. I really resent the assumption that a) someone thinks I might be a buffbot and b.) The buffee controls the buffing experience. Sorry, but I control and decide whether or not you're getting a buff. Usually, yes, you're getting one, but that's not the point.
It got so annoying that I had to eventually /shout "For everybody who is trying to group me, I am not a buffbot. I do not give my services away for free. Speak to me or send me a tell and you may actually get a buff for a fair price."

Yeah, the stupid invite thing has GOT to go. Man, is that annoying....get a clue people, we're not all animatronic battle fatigue and mind buff vendors.
