Thread: AFK gameplay easily solved
- What am I going to do if I need to go eat, and don't want to lose buff timers, or log out, or any of that stuff, but want people to know that I will be back. Are you saying I can't /afk to show people that I'm not there? (I use this a lot if I need to eat, and people are wanting buffs, and I set the timer so they know when I'm back)
- "After 30 minutes...anyone unattended will go AFK and all XP of any kind will cease." What do you mean by "unattended"? If it means not moving, that would hurt many entertainers that can't MOVE around while dancing playing. If it just means not typing, it could be circumvented just by doing a /wave or a spatial spam of sorts every 10 minutes.
I agree with the 30 minutes, no XP, but it would be worked around just as easily as the AFK auto-ignore feature from 2 weeks ago.

I don't think there is any way to NOT be afk for dancer/entertainer/musician while leveling up (snip)

A valid point, but in a profession where the only way to really get any fun out of it is by relying on other people that just aren't talking, no fun. That and you aren't allowed to move around while dancing or do much of ANYTHING, other than talk. The game is almost BEGGING you to leave the computer and do something useful while the same old song loops countless times.
so dunno why before hologrind there where so many entertainers talking, not to say the flirting dancers hihi
, and was strange but was funny even if the musics where not 200 and half of the dancers flourishes are bugged...
and people is not talking anymore because afkers... you enter in cantina all you see are 20-30 guys with afk tag on it... no one greet you or speak with you... why you have to talk to such npcs? no atmorsphere at all you have just to come in /listen /watch your fav buffbots and return after 7 mins

While AFKers certainly are a large part of the problem, using the good old days as an example may or may not be valid now. There were no player cities then, there are now, people are more spread out. The game was fresh and new, people talked and intereacted with each other more, they were learning.
Any MMRPG is always closer and more social at first , then as people learn and more stuff is added people tend to drift apart. I'm not saying this is good, just that if all the AFKers vanished tomorrow, sure things may be better for Entertainers, but I would be very surprised if it was like the old days.
