You need to keep the Ommni selected at all times. Same thing with the Nal.

You have to keep it targeted all the time.
Both the Omni and the Nargalon are like this.
It is really annoying. That is why I don't use either one in the Cantina's.

THANK YOU!!!

I was just coming here to ask this!

Btw, is this a "feature" or a Bug?

I understand if the devs want our undivided attention on the instrument, but as much as i love playin the omni, i hate not bein able to /socialize with the audience.

but hey, maybe that's just me.

thanks fer answerin the question i had but hadn't asked yet!

If you could be god's worst enemy or nothing, which would you choose?

It's probably more of a bug than a feature. They way it's been explained before is that these instruments work differently since you place it down before you actually play it.

You can still socialize with the audience by typing things like /greet,/welcome, /smile and such, followed by the name of the person. Also, if you want to use the Ventriloquism technique on someone, you just have to target them very quickly, use the technique, and then target your Ommni Box or Nalargon quickly again (like within 1-2 seconds), and you'll keep on playing without missing a beat!

Heh, the devs have never conceded it's a "bug," even though I've listed it as a "bug" in various bug reports to them. They have always told me it would not be an easy thing to fix, sinceommnis andnalasare placed in the world like harvesters or houses, and thus behave differently from other instruments. I think it was on our ten-questions list for TH, who just returned from vacation; we'll see if we get a more responsive answer this time.

I've got a question and maybe you guys can help me out.

Every time I start to play my ommni box about 5 - 10 seconds later I automatically prepare to stop playing then stop.

Need help with this, thanks.

You need to keep the Ommni Box targeted.

Basically what he said. You need to always keep the omni box (and the Nalargon too) targeted at all times to play it. I personally avoid this by playing the Bandfill constantly.

I don't believe this affects buffs too much as long as you type the command /setperform <target's name> Someone might have to back me up on this information.

Unless you're at skill level X-X-4-X and buffing, there's really no reason to use the Ommni Box. Just use a bandfill. Unless you like the way the Ommni looks, there's no reason to play it unless you're still trying to get XP. The bandfill has the same sounds.

But yes, you have to keep it or the Narlagon targetted if you're playing them. If you're very quick, you can target someone and punch off a macro or effect or something, but you have to be extremely fast. Most of the time typinga command followed by a name works just fine, e.g. /setperform tarot. If you haven't maxxed out on Entertainment Healing, you can tell if the buff is being applied because there will be a tiny trickle of EntHeal xp. I know Waltz generates 6xp, and Virtuoso 7xp.

"Ommni Box" is a curse word that should be reserved for the vilest, most evil deeds imaginable.

I just crafted another one to put back into my house, just because its an instrument, and it looks good just sitting on the floor, but I never, ever play them anymore. Bandfill all the way

Good luck on the xp with the Ommni

I kinda like the ommni if I'm part of a band putting on an actual performance. The visual variety is nice. But yes, it's a pain to play.
