I recently restarted and made a wookie. I was going to do all combat but something today made me change my mind and now I am on my way to becoming a master entertainer and master musician. I am mainly mastering ent. to have a stringed instrument which is a big waste of points for me really but I want to do it any way. My question is why is there only one stringed instrument and why is it that musicians don't get it. The piano thing I think sounds bad with all the horns and the horns just annoy me after awhile but the manoviol just makes me want to sit and listen to it for hours.
I see very few things wrong with musician besides the bots which I don't care really since I am just doing this for fun and not for money but don't get me wrong they should try to get rid of afkers. I think something that would help the profession a little is some more instruments that are stringed or why not add some drums or something other then horns. I have seen so many bands perform and they sound great but they all sound the same pretty much because all they can play with are horns, a piano, and a manoviol.
I think the hardest part of putting new ones in is the graphics. Just add a few more I am not even saying add alot but maybe another stringed instrument and maybe a drum set. Maybe one or two more after that just so bands can actually have different sounds to them. I don't care if I have to go through a huge quest just to get a new one I just want a few new ones.
I maybe pretty new to the profession it self but I have heard each insturment play and I think a little bit of new sounds would be good for us.

The arguments about this are as old as SWG itself. Those who support the current system say it's the only way Master Entertainer has any value. Without the mando and Ceremonial, no one would be a Master Ent. Those who disagree with the current system say that a Master Musician really ought to be able to play either every song or every instrument or both. What kind of Master Musician can't learn Ceremonial?
Notice that I've diplomatically avoided taking sides on this one.
I will say that if were czar, I might've at least given us Musicians Ceremonial, since there's one empty skill block in the Knowledge tree.

well you know what is embarassing? going to a gig and as a master musician only, being asked to play that really cool song that is everybody's favorite, and have them talking about ceremonial.
then when they find out you cant play it they ask to you to play that really cool string instrument, you know the guitar? when i point out that i cant play that either since im only a MASTER MUSICIAN, they then start wondering why i was hired since i cant play the two things they wanted to hear.
putting ceremonial in master ent box, ok i can deal
putting the only stringed instrument in the master ent box, grr ok i can deal
putting ceremonial AND the only stringed instrument in the maste ent box = me very sad.

I wouldlikely liberate my skill points from ME if Mandoviol and Ceremonial were not in the Master Entertainer box. Doing footloose 2 is certainly not enticing enough.

Huzzah for NewJedi and Diplomacy
I am one of the hard nosed, Don't mess with our Mando ones.
I was not in favor of letting Musicians even have a stringed instrument at all, but I changed my stance on that. There were some great discussions about adding a Vibroharp to the Musician line that I favored a lot in the end.
In a nutshell, because its late for me and I don't want to type a thousand words, I believe that Master Entertainers deserve the special perk of the mandovil, the song, I wouldn't care if it was shared at all, but that Mando screams I am a Master Entertainer, even without amastertag above your head. It was a great "reward" for mastering Entertainer and I for one do not want to see it touched.
We have argued till we were all blue in the face about the Reward vs Reality. But this is a game and you need rewards for doing things. I must say that without the mando I would still have mastered Entertainer anyhow because I do a little of all the entertainer arts anyhow. But I am still firmly of the belief that the Mando needs to reamain untouched where it is.
I am sorry if my feelings on the matter are not to others satisfaction, but this is a skill based game and we must all choose how to spend our skill points and I am very happy with my choice, and I did not ever feel that getting Master Entertainer was a pain or a huge cost at the detriment of one of my other skills. I used to be a pistoller and dropped it because on Durney, combat is not fun for me, but I started the game as a full blown entertainer and I will leave the game with Durney still being one.
I have characters on other servers that have combat skills and I also have multiple accounts(I believe just one character per server was a bad idea but that is an entirely different subject) so thatI can enjoy other professions without having to turn Durney into a combat character.
I wish you all the luck in choosing the right path for yourself, but it all boils down to what is fun for you.
