I started SWG as a Musician, but unfortunately gave up the skills to pursue other interests. Now that I'm trying to earn them back, I'm finding the cantina community very different from how I remember it. Half the time I can't get into a group, and even when I manage to, most times I can watch twenty minutes, an hour, or even longer go by without ever earning any Entertainment Healing XP. Injured visitors to the cantinaare about as rare as a groupmate responding to a question. Becoming a master again is going to be painstakingly slow at this rate, unless I can find more vibrant cantinas to perform in.
I haven't tried the frontier planet cantinas (such as Yavin, Endor, Dathomir). Are these good places to look for entertainment experience? Or have any of you found large player city cantinas to be successful? I can work around AFKers and 'bots, but if no one's coming in with injuries, I'll be working around them forever!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The large cantinas (Coronet and Theed) tend to attract the AFKers and also people passing through for healing and rebuffing. The frontier cantinas attract the people who are on marathon hunting excursions or who got diseased and lost all their stats.
Each is good for completely different reasons.
Large cantinas means large groups and that means more potential targets for an individual to listen to that you'll also get xp for. However if the cantina is a bunch of small groups due to afk leaders it can be bad. Large groups are also better for finding people to "generate" mind wounds. With 20 people, the chances that someone will have a 2nd account with a CM for mind disease or CM friends, or even a medic doing /tenddamage or /quickheal, is much higher.
Frontier cantinas are all about Battle Fatigue. Less people go to the frontier cantinas, but the ratio is always better if you can get the healing. You will rarely get a group there, and if there are multiple entertainers there you may be in a losing fight. Remind people that they can heal faster if they both listen and watch. You may also not want to compete in Frontier cantinas until you are fairly high level. Smart players who want to heal fast will listen to the highest level musicians. If you'replaying SW 1 on a Slyth with Nov Ent over your head, the guy next to you playing a bandfill with Nov Musician over his will get the healing. You'll both lose to the Ommni Box. Pray that there is no Master there, or even worse....BuffBot.
I'd suggest the large cantinas. You know what you're gonna get there. If noone will invite you, start you're own group. Just run around and invite everyone entertaining. You may have 4 or 5 people in the group without ever announcing that you have formed one. Contact Combat Medic and medic friends for Mind disease and /tenddamage-/quickheal.
You'll get there.

What server are you on Hariku?
You could, unless you are constrained by friends on your current server, make a Character and come hang out in the Bestine Cantina on Tatooine, in the Lowca Galaxy, or make a character and go hang out with Roho, Kirahand friends on Bria at thier cantina, which is for Live Entertainers only
The cantina is onNaboo but I can not recall the exact location. But you can find it easy enough with the map as its called Bishops' Sanctuary.
If you are happy on your current server, Frag's post is most excellent advice, and it applies to every server
