Crazy idea, but try engaging the customers.

Greet them as they walk in the door, look at their title (If they have one) and ask them questions about their profession?

Hmmm, crazier idea, tell jokes... OMG be an entertainer!

Yes, macrotainers, holotainers, and afk tainers did chase out alot of the talent out of the cantinas, and personally I believe they ruined the profession. BUT the only reason they were able to do this was because the musicians/dancers let them.

Everytime you accepted a macro/holo/afkl'er into your group you supported their cause!

Everytime you trained them, you supported their cause!

You want to stop afk'ers? holotainers? Macrotainers?

Stop training them, make them pay the 1000-9000 training fee per box.

You want to slow them down, don't invite them into your group.

I'm really tired of hearing about this or that about the macro/afker/holo'tainers.

Now, let me finish this with a positive note about holo'tainers. I have no problem grouping with a holotainer assuming that they aren't unattended macroing and I understand limited afk, we all have real life things to do like dinner and such.

But if I notice more than 2/3'rds of the group is afk, I will pick up my highest instrument and song and stop the band and switch to it. (I give warning)

if all the players stop playingbut don't say anything, I assume they don't mind just standing there like statues.

In the end, if you want to reclaim your cantina's then perform like a performerand treat the macro/afk'ers as the enemy "Them" they are, instead of whining about how they are ruining your profession.

While I agree on the switching songs (Anyone object for some Virtuoso for the next couple hours? ) not grouping with them won't slow them down. Nor will not teaching them. I already do both. It was quite entertaining when one of them woke up and asked for training, and as she ran out, I said "Don't you have a macro for that too?". But the fact is people have already started seeing groups forming in Coronet that are nearly pure AFK macrotainers, with only a few around still keeping the group. I'm talking full groups, that they refuse to let live entertainers into.

I keep meaning to take a trip out to Coronet and whipping out the nalargon, and inviting anyone who as ATK to join me. Unfortunately I surrendered master musician last night. It was a hard choice. I spent a good hour mulling over it, bringing up the surrender box several times, but being unable to bring myself to type yes. But in the end.. I always knew I was a dancer, and musician was just something on the side for me.

Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die

Your solution (I personally see the first statement asan insult, but that is me, disregard if it wasn't a statement) will not cure the profession.

Macro-tainers are from other professions (you know, the ones where they have a buncha money? more than us?) Let's say we were at the absolute beginning of macro/holo-taining, and we do not group them, or teach them. O wait, this holotainer is grouping with other afkers, o wait, look! that guy is going to the guild theatre to get taught music 1, and then music 2, he doesn't care, he was a weaponscrafter! (Heck, let's say Pistoleer, they all have more money than us.) O now look, that guy is now teaching other afkers so he can get the AP points! The process will spread like a plague!

Now, there's happenly a afker in your group. These people are getting smarter and smarter somehow! You'll /changeband to virt, now they will stand like statues, now their macro does /changeband starwars2! Yea! It's all the rage in coronet! And a leader cant boot a guy, that has the risk of disbanding the entire group! (of course you can do that, and invite all the atk performers, but those afkers will be like terminator 2 and group each other together sooner or later, and even if they dont, their still yelling out "Hi, please heal me," "Watch me!" "I'm playing music tip me," every 15 sec.

Now this environment is horrible, plainly horrible! Most master musicians that are for real with it, would never step inside Coronet cantina or Theed cantina again! And that leads back to bullet 1 of your post, masters aren't RPing in cantinas because of the text macros from afkers, and atk performers join w/ the rest as silent beings (except on group chat) because spatial is also polluted with macro text!

heh i am sorry to tell you this but your ideas dont work. you may be able to strangle a couple customers to find you but the plain and simple fact is that with a cantina crowded (50+ people in there) all with their own macros that say tip me or heal me every 15-30 seconds to catch any /tells or anything in spatial is a task near impossible unless the person has taken spatial off of their chat tab.

you can not train and not group and the like but with 50 people there is always a second or third group.

so in conclusion i am sorry but i from this post it makes me wonder if you have been to coronet cantina or theed cantina since the holocron craze took hold on most people.

your ideas worked great back in the day for afk-tainers trying to actually get the profession. back in spetmeber, august. it was the way to stop afkers from ruining my experience. now there is just too many of them- i as a master stay away from the npc cantinas.
