Thread: Musicians/Entertainers Unite
I've read numerous complaints about AFK Macrotainers and Holotainers and seeing as how there is no solution at the moment, it is time we take matters into our own hands. I read others post and think, "Hey, they're just like me." On each server, no matter how small, there are still TRUE non-holo real deal ATK entertainers. I've played my way all the way to musician. I always chat with my patrons and several times I've been appreciated for it. People enjoy entertainers who care. Gather the entertainers on you server, and set a location. We don't like AFK's and I am sure there are many non ents out there who wish for the good ol' days when they getting healed is not synamous to 10 minutes of boredom or bathroom break etc.
Here are a few ideas I am trying to implement on my server:
Perminent Entertainer Chat Channel (Since many ents have guild/city/faction ties to gather them all together by normal means)
Entertainment Tours- Make a schedule, post it on your board, and be reliable. People play at the same cantina, build up a patron base.
Use the unused cantinas or player city cantinas Entertaining is about quality not quanity, the non ents who care will come to you.
Post further ideas here, let's make a difference...
I like these ideas too. An entertainer chat channel: now why didn't I think of that? Politicians on my server have a server-wide chat channel ("gov" on Chilastra). Time for something similar for entertainers.
BTW, Kora, I had a nice jam session with Rhobarrt last night, at his cantina in Mistmore. Quite a nice operation.
Good ideas, and once again my question is this:
How do you (or how have you) schedule those times with the musicians and then actually have them show up? If I only get 10% actual attendance versus who said they would come, i'm happy. Can we improve on that? Or what can I do to entice people to come? I've gotten some good suggestions such as raffles, scavenger hunt, things like that. any more ideas?
Then, after you've convinced the musicians to show up on a regular basis, how do you keep them coming back for the two weeks it will take to form even a tiny audience following?
After that, how do you get the audience to come?
I find that advertising on the forums is less than adequate.
Good Ideas. When I get home from work tonight Im totally starting an Ent channel.
