Thread: Couple questions about the future of Musicians
It should be like this, there should be something special to the people who masters the Entertainer class, and that is just what they get. If you really want to have the Mandoviol then there is only one way, if you don't then you can skip it.
What does killing and skinning creatures have to do with Creature Handling, well that is another question. That is how the game works.
About the vocalist, there is /sing command you can use, that emotes your bubble diff, and tells people that you are singing the text. That is about how vocal the game will be, i don't think you will get some kinda singer with ingame speak. If that is what you wanted.
Hi there, and good luck on the quest for Master Musicain.
It is a very fun and exciting profession, however, do not expect to get rich just being a musician. I wish it were different, in that we could have a stable and steady income, but actually no class is guarenteed that.
Hmm...I was getting side tracked sorry. Ok, about Master Entertainer to play the Mandovil. Which IMHO, is an awesome instrument. I think that the skill set is right on.
I had to sacrifice alot to become a Master Entertainer and the reward to me, is just. I am very happy with the way the entertainer has gone, and I have still yet to make a macro to do song. ( To busy running missions now to support my clothes habit, and yes, I did double flourishes manually to level...no macros for me
I have had to date, two paying gigs, but both were cancelled due to server crashes, but thats how the ball bounces. I absolutely love playing my Musician. I can walk into almost any cantina/tavern/hotel and instantly have a small crowd watching me. I do get tipped a lot better now that I am a Master, but again thats getting off the point of the topic.
I am sorry I disagree with you, but I belive the rewards for Master Entertainer should stay exactly as they are. But I would like more instruments, or more varied sounds with existing ones. IE, give the different horns different sounds and split the sounds for bandfill / ommni box.
Thanks for listening

I probably wasn't clear about what I was wanting though.
I'm perfectly ok with the master entertainer gaining "something" special. But the one and only stringed instrument seems a bit out of whack. At a minimum at least some sort of other stringed instrument should be available to the pure musician. As of right now, for a pure musician, the drums and keyboard are the only way to get away with singing while playing in a roleplay sense. All the other instruments available to the pure musician use your mouth to play. (I know you can still talk aloud while playing, but that seems really out of place when you have an instrument in your mouth)
I just thought a pure musician should have more to play than a keyboard, drums, and horns.
I think at least a simple stringed instrument should be available for people who don't want to become master entertainers, but keep the special stringed instrument and special song with the Master Entertainer.
I tend to agree that the way things are setup now is fine. Master Musicians get the Nalagron (I hope this is how you spell it I don't have the energy to look it up) .. when you whipthat thingout it is INSTANT recognition that you are a Master of your profession.
If you look over the lifetime of your character, a few hours image designing and somehours dancing is not that big of a sacrifice if you really want that instrument.

While I would love to have Ceremonial and the Mando without spending those extra 34 points (IIRC) I kind of enjoy the supposed rarity of them. The dancers LOVE ceremonial, as its one of the very few songs that go with their very slow moving exotic dances (and I tend to agree...them doing those dances while starwars1 andcarnie from hell...I mean starwars2 is being played is quite a ridiculous site
).
I think the main reason they leave these things in Master Entertainer is for the Dancers and Image Designers that want to contribute to music as well. I would much rather the song ceremonial to still be available to Musicians at novice (depressing getting there and not having a new song). But the instrumentAND same song should be available to master entertainers. Personally I've come across a number of dancers with master entertainer -- able to do make-up for them is huge plus I would believe -- and having dancers able to join in on the fun of musc is a nice change of pace, esp when they bring their own sound
.
But just like they're getting a change of pace with the songs as dancers, I get that as a musician with the dances. I just wish poplock was a Master Entertainer dance instead
. Sure I've had to re-work my 'final' draft for my character because of the want to play the mando, but thats part of the sacrifice that must be made to dedicate yourself more to music. Andevery master musician I know has Master Entertainer or is working on attaining it. We're all musicians first, and whatever 2nd...whatever beign TK for me I think

Hi, I just started playing and finally tried out the entertainer, working towards Musician.
I started reading up on these boards and a couple guides and I noticed that you need to be a master entertainer in order to play the one and onlystringed instrument. What does mastery of hairdressing and dancing have to do with playing a stringed instrument? Also there's a song that's only available to master entertainers.
My question is, is this going to continue to be the only way to get a stringed instrument? I would think that becoming a Master Musician would mean you'd be able to play all the instruments and songs, without having to go to beauty school first.
My other question is whether or not vocalist is going to become a possibility for a musician? They had vocalists in the Star Wars universe, with Jabba's band from the original trilogy, then the remade and horrible version of the Jabba band song from the special edition.
I like how they did the musicians to start out in this game. After playing a bard for 2+ years in EQ and a Minstrel in DAoC where you either don't hear any music at all, or all you hear is a single measure of music then nothing...this is a nice change of pace. As long as they plan to expand upon it significantly.
Just to comment on: "(I know you can still talk aloud while playing, but that seems really out of place when you have an instrument in your mouth)"
I completely agree with you and I am forever emoting: K'vera wonders how %NT manages to talk whilst playing a wind instrument.
This is one of the reasons I took Master Entertainer... I adore my Mandoviol and would not be without it. Great for accompanying yourself whilst singing. in addition to /sing you can /rap, /chant, /carol, /recite/. Probably some others I have missed. Looking forward to the Omnibox and Nalagron so I can sing whilst playing those as well. Otherwise when doing a show without backing I could not sing my songs ![]()
