From what we've been told so far, this is correct.

And I'm prepared to fight to have this rethought, if necessary - we need MORE people playing with us, NOT less. Removing 1/2 easily of the instruments people could play before will most likely make folks just drop the 0040 line and maybe Entertainer alltogether. This is the last thing we need.

I'd rather see this:

Keep crafting in Techniques line. Add more customizations to instruments along with the new effects. More instruments, maybe? Perhaps exclusive to new songs, so there isn't the daunting task of incorporating them into existing songs, as this would probably be rather difficult.

Keep certs/songs in Knowledge to not penalize those with 0040 Musician.

The Battle Fatigue line gets Musician props added in, as well as Dancer props. Also, Musicians/Dancers get more cantina decoration items to make in this branch. Maybe mutli-level platforms to perform on in player cantinas, as just the stage is kind of boring. Cantinas are kind of tall, and could allow for some slightly raised platforms to play on.

Well, I asked for some more details about the comments JFreeman made in the Entertainer forum, and he delivered some good info.

Some upcoming changes:

New Song! - We'll be getting a new song soon that is slated to be put into Knowledge line (i.e. not quested). Dancers will be getting a new dance (with the usual 2 versions of the base).

New Props and Particle Effects - We'll be getting some new particle effects to use. Dancers will get props, things like swords, batons, sparklers, glow sticks, etc., to hold while dancing.

Battle Fatigue Removed as stated - Anyone with BF will have it cleared once they log in after this is live. Some related changes will be coming for that...

Entertainer Healing XP goes away - Since we're not healing anything anymore, we'll no longer have healing xp. Boxes in our skill trees that used to require it will now require music or dance xp as appropriate.

Some Skill Tree Reorganization
- All the instrument stuff from the Musician tree (schematics and certs) will move from the Techniques and Knowledge lines into a new line that replaces the current Fatigue Healing line. Dancers will have their prop stuff in their version of that line.
- The Wound Healing line will be used for current and any future inspirations. Wound healing skill mods will be renamed and replaced with enhancement skill mods. Ditto for Dancers.
- Techniques will thus be solely for particle effects. The enhancement skill mods will be removed from here.
- Knowledge will thus be solely for song certifications.
It's unclear what the plan is for the current Mind Enhancement skill mods, but we'll seek further information.

An Increase to Experience Gain - Our rate of music/dance xp gain will be increased, probably pretty significantly.

There are also plans to put in some bug fixes for some covercharge issues.

This stuff is currently slated to come to us pretty soon. Of course that's always subject to change due to any number of possible issues, but that's what's planned .

Well, at least they're thinking of us and giving us SOME new stuff (new songs/dances are always nice, needless to say). So I'm cautiously optimistic about it for a change. But that being said, I hope this isn't already our promised "Entertainer Revamp" in its entirety - although knowing SOE, I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

for sure i'm happy for some changes, but the removal of BF....

i must admit that i really liked the interdipendence of wound/bf healing

it forced all people to stop in cantina, whitout to be too much "intrusive" in their playstyle...

buffs are more problematica as they tend to become a requirement when they are good (as it happened before CU for mind buff), or to be almost useless and so unrequested as inspiration post cu....

imo the old bf/wound mechanic (before CU)was really a great concept and worked really well, sad it will be lost as many other great ideas of this game.

Scip,

Thanks for the info.

Its always good to hear what they have planned. Unfortunately there is only one (well 1.5) things that we asked for out of this entire list. Those things being new songs and 'props' which go to dancers. I do NOT like the fact that ANOTHER form of interdependance is being removed without an adequate replacement. Another thing that I do not like is that even if they did give us an adequate replacement, AFK would still be an issue!

You're doing a great job Scip and thanks for the info.

That would be awesome, then I'd be able to free up some space on my yacht, from my mic made of various PUPs and weapons.

Will this song, and the other recently added songs have proper xp gains? any word on stomping that bug? New songs are great scip, but if they keep adding them broked, they're just gonna have more to fix when they get around to it.

I haven't heard much info in terms of whether they've gotten it worked on, but I was asked once to be pointed to the info I had on the issue, so *someone*'s presumably looking at it.

I'll make mention of the issue in terms of the new song so they know to test for it.

I'm appreciate of new stuff, and it's good to see that we're finally getting our situation looked at.

I must say that the removal of BF isHUGE removal of our role in the game...and it seems we get particle effects and one new song to compensate? I'd hope more is on the way, like...a LOT more. That's a big gutting of what we do in the game.

To summarize changes for Musicians:

1 new song.

Some new effects (which I'm guessing will hold no benefit except to look pretty, like the old ones)

All of our instrument stuff will be moved into a branch that used to have a pivotal part in our role in the game. It's what we had before, but ina new place? What kind of compensation is that? That's like telling Doctors that their wound healing is being removed, but don't worry - the cure poison, disease, and extinguish fire skills will be shifted over in it's place.

I'm just hoping that there's a lot more to this.

How about microphones for props for us? How about a speaker that makes our music ambient?

And, for the record, Devs have said that profession-specific buffs will be replacing the current obsolete Mind Enhancement skills. Everything is subject to change, though.

I'm just going on record as saying that I feel uncomfortable with the prospect of having my community and role-defining skill of Battle Fatigue healing removed, for the sake of one new song and some new effects. I don't think "moving instruments schematics and certs" to the branch that used to define my role in the game is adequate compensation. I really don't, Scip. I hope there is a LOT more to this change than 1 new song and something to make a few people go "ohhhhh...." and a most others go "Thanks for the lag, pal."

It's not that I'm ungrateful for finally seeing Musician get some love, but man - from what we've heard so far we need a LOT more to make up for BF removal...I mean, let's see some fair compensation here. I want a way to experience more of the game as an Entertainer. I want to be someone to go to for event planning and decorating. I want to be able to have a band again with each instrument represented. I want unique sounds from instruments. And I don't think I'm the only one.

Thanks for the info, Scip - and all the hard work!

So, let me get this straight... in order to play all the songs with all the instruments (minus the master boxes) we now have to be Musician 0044? Pardon me for thinking that is a bad thing. (And yet another nerf to my template, what a surprise that is.)
