I posted a little of this before, but I will repeat myself in some more detail here. It would be nice if us Musicians could get out of the cantina and have some fun also. For this to happen we need to be viable in a group. It would be nice to see some skills that would buff the group in some way or another. Examples would


1. melee and ranged accuccy buffs lasting 5 mins or so

2.damage mitagation buffs lasting 5 mins or so

3. heightned sesnes buff allowing people to see cloaked jedi or covered riflemen buff lasting 5 mins

4.faster food digestion duration 5 mins or so

5. etc etc etc

6. our buffs should mirror pretty much ever chef food and stack with the food in some cases.


This would allow Musicians to be hired to go out with groups to help them. It would get us non afk Musicians some means to earn a living my having groups pay us for our services of being in the group and giving on the site buffs.



The point of these buffs are to be short so that you need a musician on call to get the buff. These buffs should last longer for high level musicians. It would also be nice to get some combat level added to our tree so we could arm ourselves with something other then a cdef pistol.


And these buffs should have to have the musician in the group to take effect. The short duration of these buffs would allow us non afk musicians to have fun and the afkers to do what they do. I hope this ideal is built on and get bumped.

It's been said a million times but I guess it needs to be repeated:

Entertainers are not bards.

If you want to particpate in combat, be half entertainer half combat.

Not suggesting we are bards. However, I am suggesting we get uselful skills other then to mend bf. Btw bf is going away soon and that will make us even more useless of a class. If you do not have something constuctive to add please pass on by. On other thought I guess you must be an afk musician. In that case I can see how you would want things to not change for us.

I'm just explaining to you why no matter how many times you /bump this thread you'll get no support for entertainers turning into bards.

If you want combat, get combat. Don't try to turn entertainers from non-combat into combat, because it's not going to happen. The only person limiting you to stay in a cantina is yourself.

All of these abilities, actually, look to fit the sorely under-utilized Squad Leader profession rather than a Musician. I think Squad Leaders would love each and every thing you proposed above.


But, I feel like a Musician's place is outside the direct line of fire. Perhaps a portable bar tent or entertainment venue would be better suited. Like a "home base" to accompany a Ranger's tent structure. Something we could deploy on our own if we wanted to, but when combined or placed next to a Ranger's high level camp, it would provide more bonuses somehow.


The challenge with Entertainer content is that the initial vision for them seemed to be some downtime from "the grind" by chilling in a cantina. I would much rather see cantinas and entertainment venues completely overhauled and made interesting, and THEN work at how we might leave the cantina for more content that's designed and geared towards us.

Five min buffs areuseless. No one is going to stop every 5 min to get a buff. No one is going tostop and get a five min buff as it will probably take ten min to get where they are going. These things you are proposing are squad leader skills that are done during the battle.


If you are proposing taking entertainers into the field, then you better have a doc with lots of res packs as they will be one shot/hit kills, if they even make it to the battlefield and not get killed several times enroute.


With the removal of mind wounds and BF, there really isn't much function to any entertainers. Sure there are inspiration buffs but their effects are pretty minor. I have no idea how they can change this, but I do know minor buffs aren't going to change much. And major buffs are pretty much out of the question with the CU.


I am no longer optomistic in any way shape or form. My entertainer is for RP purposes only. I really don't know how I could play this game if I only had her and didn't have another charactor to enjoy the other 90 percent of the content in SWG.


The skill points cost for this RP profession is the serious problem, not some pie in the sky idea that entertainers will ever have a real function again in this game. Current trends tell us its much easier to take away then to add... Many people offer suggestions that require some serious dev time and I don't think they will do it. We have lost so many entertainers that it would be safe to say we represent a small minority of players in SWG. This just isn't where the dev time is allocated. I am sure they look at the numbers.


I stay because I am a member of the oldest band on Kettmoor, if they broke up, this is my disposable charactor...

You do make a point about taking stuff from Squad leaders. But this is our forum not thiers I am sure they can look ater themselves. I do like your point about us having the ability to bring a portable cantina of some sort with us. I have Master Doc so I can go out and still use a laser rifle. However it would be nice to see some useful skills. How about a buff for faster force power regen. Have a buff that effects or enhances the skills of each class in same way. example being.

commando= allow gernades to be thrown further

smuggler= alllow for bettler slices

chef= better results on food

all crafter= better results on expermention

tkm= allow faster medation or somehting

jedi= faster force regen

riflemen= better chance to cover

pistoleer= better stance or somehting


Add ideas from here. That way you would not be stealing stuff from Sqaud Leaders but only enhancing each class.
