I don't agree with the changes taking place, I don't like not being without an integral use. Ask yourself what is the telos of Musician.
What can I do? nothing but cancel and I stillhave funso I don't want todo that.
Were we warned of the extent this would go? In a way, but its hard to imagine the loss of skills without gaining something in return although that just happened.
When these changes get implemented they had better get the WHOLE new system in place or there won't be enough people left in the entertainer profession to deem it necessary to complete the alteration. When I got into entertaining 2 years go plus a few days I did it for the fun of it, meeting people. As we all know the number of people you meet has dwindled to a few friends that come to visit you and those people that just haven't figured out that getting killed in the ryatt trails will cure you of all ailments. Things have steadily become worse and worse for entertainers to actually "entertain." All the veterans have seen this, and it is disheartening. Entertainer populations are at a bare minimum and these changes will drive even those meager numbers to dwindle to nothingness. Everyone likes to have a purpose in life, in game it doesn't matter we need a purpose.
Entertainment is about having fun with people you know, meeting new people and just having a good time hanging out with others that like to do the things you do. There will be no more hangouts after this. The band I am in on Naritus had a whole concert series this past year and we had maybe 30 people show up to the concerts and several of those were repeats, we advertised continuously where and when sending emails and talking to others. Virtually everyone in the band was an alt or had an alt.
I see the same people every week at our Galactic Entertainers Society meetings on Friday, we all have the same stories or slight variations from week to week. That depresses me and I have since stopped attending due to it being lightsaber wielding fests and bounty hunting extravaganzas. Do you remember when there were so many entertainers we needed 2 or 3 groups of twenty to keep them in groups? Now it is hard to fill even one group let alone 2 when there isn't some special event like a Cantina Crawl. For months I've been the musician at most weddings, parties, and what have you. Its not that I advertise what I can do, its that I'm one of thefew that can actually perform what they're looking for, live entertainment. (Hi-Fi) and I do everything together, that silly droid knows more about a bandfill than 90% of the playerbase in SWG and has more hours logged playing it than should be possible.
What I'm saying is this, Entertainer is dead, has been and will be. We needed a revamp, tototally give entertainers unique skills and abilities that other people want to have and find useful. What these changes are is more fluff, I rarely do lights because they lag people and they're inconvenient for me as a musician if I'm punching Fkeys to do flourishes or running a flourish macro to chat with a customer. There are NO positive and rewarding skills for Entertainers in these notes that can replace what once was fun at the beginning of the game, way back on that fateful June afternoon when I met so many people my head was spinning. Combat was totally redone, if Entertainer does not receive equal treatment there is no use in doing what is being planned. These changes must be fully fleshed out, no half written code, no bugs. We need a reason to entertain and more importantly everyone else needs a reason to see Entertainers. I am sure not going to waste my time to go see some new lights that will lag my system and the novelty wear off in the first 5 minutes such as a new song will do.
Add a new repitoire of songs, new instruments, and PURPOSE.We need a drive to be better, to desire to excel in all that we do.Thereneeds tobe a burning in the souls of the other players to come and see us do our thingsuch as there was at launch. Without these things Entertainer is a failure, and arehash of existing skills will do nothing to help the situation.
Sorry for being sowordy but I love being an Entertainer, itis unique, it was fun. Now, there islittle reason to spend the skillpoints on fluff skills that will have no meaningful impact on the galaxy in which we live.

Theres that room for creativity that you cant have in other games, but apparently we dont want that since they are pulling out the patented "OMEGA NERF" on the few last entertainers.
