Thread: Well, thats about the end of the road for musicians
This reaction is why I think phasing our new stuff in gradually is a really poor choice.

Cantinas used to buzz with activity as ALL players needed to come visit us, we had budding medics healing our HAM bars, combat professions coming in for mind and battle fatigue healing. The profession put us right at the heart of the community, hell we WERE the heart of the community. Now it's all gone, removed brick by brick untill all we are left with is a pile of sand (read: crap).
Only remaining question is when will they remove the profession they have killed, and with it killed all that was fun in the game for many players...could we live with being reduced to zero SP professions like Pilots and Politicians? Surely thats our next stop
Zero new content, increasing nerfs, i have taken all I can for 2 years, time to move on.
actually, you're overstating the usefullness of the musician class.
My main toon (TKM/MCM, CL80) has novice entertainer so I can inspiration buff/BF fix (for now)the whole crew (me + 4 others). Unless I need a new haircut, all entertainer classes are hereby declared useless.
For those who chose to play this game and play the entertainers, you got screwed, and I honestly feel for you guys ![]()
I don't feel bad enough for you to take the time to make the trip (shuttle + space jumps) to bestine to get buffed. We just throw up a lowbie ghetto camp and I Basic Dance the batch of us while everyone refills drinks or hits the latrine. sorry guys.

Hopefully after our new buffs come into play, we will be able to give much more effective buffs than your Novice Entertainer.
I think the saddest thing from my point of view is that SoE had created a mmorpg with entertainer classes that were needed and useful and more importantly fun to play!
Then over time for no good reason trashed the professions. I really cannotunderstand why we have been given such a raw deal. We only ever asked to be left alone and given a little new content now and then. Perhaps we should whine and scream like Jedi until we get noticed?
I have now read the proposed newbuffing ideas and to be honest i am not impressed at all. Unless we can provide significantly necesary buffs (inspiration is NOT necessary, in fact it's laughable!) that are on par with doctors and Jedi then why even bother....Doctors can heal, Jedi can fight, we canONLY buff (hence buff specialists) therefore our buffs should be the best in the game, no? Of course not ![]()
My suggestion would be to allow Musicians to give buffs to classes UNDER cl70, if nothing else at least allow us to aid the new players and not be abused by the CL80's who roll in, listen, then wander off without a word. Let us help those who would actually appreciate it.

They shouldn't remove anything UNTIL they have a suitable replacement. This would of been like removing smugglers' ability to slice, before they had they had the new slicing system ready. (BTW, I think the new slicing system sucks) But at least they can still slice. I really like the idea of Battle Fatigue. I quit CoH because of the lack anything Non-combative to do. I'd do mission after a mission and it just get's excurtating after a while, never anywhere to go to just sit and unwind, everywhere was a battle zone. And that was me in real life. My actual toon there was fine. I think Battle fatigure should of effected things like accuracy and speed after a while. Anyone play Rome: Total War. The longer your units are in battle, the more tired they get, and after a while thier moral goes down and they become less and less effective. Elephants Units sometimes went mad when things got bad.
Totally agree with the Redondo.
From my point of view, all professions except BH are now either secondary make-weight professions or grinding tools for Jedi.

And who better to breathe new life into the profession than the remaining few that actually care about it enough to ride out the horrendous waves of crud that are thrown into our wake with every patch and publish?
Sad but true /shrug

You know with all the changes to everything over the last few months I have started to wonder why they changed things from the way they were in the beginning. When I first started playing SWG back in August 03 everyone pretty much grouped to hunt. You typically wanted a diverse group with medics/docs, CH/Ranger, melee tank, and any assortment of ranged profs. We usually took and Entertainer with us to heal in camps. I realize CH and Commando were a little overpowered in the beginning but aside from fixing those everything else just seems to have gone downhill. Back then buffs were like a treat, you usually went looking for a group before you resorted to buffs. I almost never got ent buffs, but sometimes I would, and doc buffs were usually given out by the group doc. THEN CAME THE HOLOS!!!!!
I cant help but think that the holos were the single most devastating thing to this game. Not because I dont think there should be jedi, but holos turned this game into the ultimate grind. Everything in this game now is either directly or indirectly geared toward getting XP. Our entertainer buffs are inspiration buffs for more XP, our biggest rewards over the last month have been double XP sessions, and the biggest benefit to groups now is more XP. Almost all support professions have been made pretty useless. By useless I mean there really isnt any room for a person who simply wants to be support. For instance, if you want to level up as a carbineer, you will finish your novice pre reqs, get some ok armor, and start grouping for xp. In your group you will probably find a tank, a jedi, and other combat types. You can use stims now based on CL, or a jedi will heal you, or there is the off chance someone in the group picked up some doc or CM to help them kill jedi.
Aside from my musician character I play a MCH/MCM/Pistols character that deals very little damage. I go out with a group and by the time I have my pets attacking or my poisons ticking the MOB is dead after my group members start attacking. So then I go to heal someone in my group who has probably already healed a great deal of their damage with stims, or the jedi are healing them. Once again I am not blaming jedi, just everything in this game is about getting XP as fast as possible. The master elite prof which for many of us old timers was the end game, has now been reduced to the first step in the game. And what happens after that? SOE has refined the art of keeping people grinding, but has not once developed the GCW beyond a couple of monthly storylines (now gone), battlefields (now gone), turning static bases (now gone), and theme parks (an afternoon of immersion).
This grind has reduced the "need" for support profs, entertainers are feeling it, as well as crafters, BEs, docs, CMs, rangers, smugglers, and squad leaders. It is truly sad. I remember the game when I started, the groups forming for the Tusken Fort or Squill Cave, the hunting parties on Endor and Dath, the battles for AH and Bestine, the cantinas full of ATK ents and patrons, ATK docs and patients in the med centers. Why did it all change so much? and could that style have survived? I certainly wouldnt say my Musician is useless now, for me it is fun enough just playing music, ID'ing some folks and generally making a fool of myself. Aside from needing a few credits for clothes and a playback droid I want for nothing. However, my musician is an alt of sorts on a seperate server than my main, so when I want the high end stuff I go get it with my BH. I just think SOE is killing this once great game slowly but surely.
