I was listenin to my sound clips of Western in anticipation of getting the song, when I realized the Xantha is still not in the game...I really am curious as to what happened to the new instrument we were supposed to get with the song. Anyone have any ideas? Btw for those who dont know what the Xantha is, it was supposed to be a stringed instrument for musicians that had a real twangy feel and was a real neat part of western. (those who listend to the sound samples in the .tre files know what im talkin about heh)

Well I don't know about "supposed to get with the song". As far as I know, noone from SOE ever said anything about specifics as to if and when we were to get new instruments.

So then the questions are A) Why were the files in there? and 2) When will we get it? I personally think the answers are A) In anticipation of the release of a new instrument, they have included the files for said instrument in the new song that they issued. and 2) When they are good and ready! More appropriately, when they also have sound files for all 10 other songs prepared for this instrument and they have an appropriate release time/site/location to add it.

Not to burst peoples bubbles, butIF they added the files in anticipation of releasing it as a new instrument, then this means that the Xantha is the ONLY planned instrument for the near future. Also, who knows what "near future" or "planned" mean anyway.

And I'd like to reiterate that we weren't promised this in any way. Nor do we really have any of the other information you gave on it. It's *probably* safe to assume that since it has sounds for Western, it would be something a musician could play. It's likely that it's a stringed instrument, from the sound of it, and from outside information on what a Xantha is in the EU.. but we don't have any proof that that's how it would ever be in the game, should it ever be there . All we really know is there were sound clips for Western under the name "Xantha".

I bet it will be "snuck" in during the CU. Why ? because it will keep us all happy for a little while longer.

Our first new instrument will be a part of the 'Invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong' expansion, hitting the shelves October 19, 2005. Two and a half years of playing on the same old instruments ain't bad, is it?

Is this an entry or are you just trying to depress us more? What server is your 5K on?

Well, both. It's an entry andasad remark onthe current lack of interest in continuity. If we have Jedi armies right after the destruction of the first Death Star, then why not throw in the Yuuzhan Vong just before the Battle of Hoth?

I'm on Tempest. Or will be againwhen AFK is no longer an encouraged playstyle.
