Hello fellow musicians,

I have a Master Dancer, Master Entertainer soon to be Master Musician on Ahazi, her name is Lil' Lunatic and now proud member of LIVE entertainment. I have only danced in the beginning of my career (I started a dancer on lowca back in juli, and joined a fine danse company BABE), and I have mastered that profession as much atk as possible, several times. Only recently did I really start to pick up beyond the scope of Master Entertainer/Dancer (I so love the mandoviol instrument and ceremoniol song) and I'm slowly but surely climbing the ranks into mastering this profession. I admit that it is frustrating at times when the only song you seem to play all day is starwars1 and rock, though at the same time I realize I was there one time too. If it really gets frustrating I just pack my instrument and dance away while white foam flows along side my ankles from that spiffy new sfx droid I received as a gift.

As you can guess from my intro I have made this character a dedicated performer and this creates several new challenges. The increase of zombies still in the cantina's seem to have had some more side-effects. Now people seem tobe even less compelled to start a conversation, let alone hand out tips. I can understand how this has been working. Players go to an overfull cantina, knowingly that the majority will be AFK so they go there already with certain expectations. You can go in, none will bother you, most messages you see are macros, you get your mindwounds and BF healed and you leave. Tip? Nah, they're all afk, so why bother.

Luckily I do receive the occasional tip, but it seemed a lot less than when I was dancing. I placed a theatre and I have a house to maintain. Plus I need to keep my wardrobe up to date, buy batteries for my droid, and doctor crafted stim b's to heal myself at times when there is no medic around. This not including traveling costs to try and provide a service on the more remote locations. It has been a challenge to earn some credits in the entertainment industry, but current events (hologrind) has put this under even more stress. So besides the occassional selling of an instrument on the bazar, what other means to provide for myself do I have? Or do I need to pick up delivery missions, because our entertainment missions are still not working well? Or do they work well for the musicians? I just realize that I never have taken a musician mission from the entertainment missions terminal.

I've also noticed that the /stopmusic sometimes stops others and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I am affected by it and sometimes I am not. Is this known? If so, what is causing it and should I therefor stop using it? I do rather use stopmusic, because it will create a fitting outtro and other people know you are either about to leave the group, switch instruments, and etc.

I'm also confused a bit about the 2 flourishes per 9 seconds idea. I guess I have been wasting tons of action. What I do is when playing music is that I pick sets of 4 flourishes and hit them in four and wait till my character is finished, then have a few beats of the base segmentand hit another set of four. The reason I do this manualy is because I like the freedom, and I also like to prevent that it numbs people for hearing (if they actualy have the sound on, many don't) the same flourishes in the same sequence each and every time. So does that mean I do waste half my sets each time? I don't think I will have a big problem with adjusting to having 2 sets each time, and I assume that when my character has finished the 2 sets of music + the base segment, that 9 seconds would have been passed. I would love some advice on this.

Another thing I was wondering about is the bandflourish. As a dancer it has happened occasionaly that I was affected by the banflourish of a musician. Most often in AH, where I seem to encounter many other problems and it seems to be a highly lag sensitive area for my system at least. Has anyone ever heard of this? What I will see is: NT% (or TN I keep mixing them up) is performing a bandflourish and my dancer, in exotic4 would suddenly do that aweful shake 'n bake move because it hits one that I obviously don't have. This has happened several times. Now I don't know for 100% certainty that it was in fact a musician doing the bandflourish, but at that time the musician in our grup was the only one doing them. From then on I have standard bandflourish off, but that's more of a workaround. So I like to know if I just lost all my marbles or that others have at least noticed something strange as well.

Thank you for your time,

/curt

Lil' Lunatic (on my other account I just realized *blush*)

First to /stopmusic:

/stopmusic stops _your_ music
/stopband stops the complete band
/stop defaults to ... /stopband

So most time someone stops the band, it is because he/she does
not know the above rule.

I always use /stopmusic (only when I am to excited playing with
Fragpuppie and then stop the band with /stop when just wanting
to stop my Mandoviol.. :/), and in fact never stopped the band.

Flourishes:

you get max xp output with doing 2 flourishes per "tick". Tick
is defined as the 10 seconds from xp message to xp message. To
be sure to do the 2 flourishes, most people do use a /pause 9.

I had performance macros to be able to chat with people, with
just going
/flo 3
/flo 3
/pause 9
/flo 6
/flo 6
/pause 9
and so on

Thats just the xp point of view, now that I dont need any more, I
flourish more seldom.. so its more like one per 10 seconds maybe.

Bandflourishes:

Its important to remember that when someone in an xp gaining group
uses bandflourishes, only he/she gets xp, but all other burn action.
I for the most time have /bandflourish off, and only activate this
feature for shows.
I actually not have seen yet, that a /bandflourish used by a musician
also works for Dancers.

Yes the /bandflo's are often received with much protest, but I figure since it can be turned off, I would be still be able to use it when playing with friends in the same group. Its not like I will be spamming them either, but occassionaly I use it, and it just looks better ^^

As for the /stop, yes I was aware of that. Guess people just like to lie to me lol. I didn't think it would be that hard to admit a fault? We all make mistakes.

Thanks for your reply ^^

(on the right account this time too lol)
