The first day player cantinas were possible, my wife's Master Dancer char started her own cantina on Dantooine, 3km from the nearest starport. As the cantina owner, she eagerly took it upon herself to make it a well decorated cantina that was staffed as much as possible. To accomplish this, we made your typical afk dance macro. Once the secret of passive buffs had been cracked, we setup what was probably one of the first buffbots on our server (though we didn't spread the macro around... lots of people just figured it out on their own) Since that time, she has also picked up master musician, and has incorporated that into her macro. As part of a functioning cantina, she wanted to have vendors, so she picked up merchant. She is not a mule. She is a primary character, and an officer in the city's guild. She spends her in-game time stocking vendors, chatting, decorating her many homes, shopping the galaxy, etc. Instead of logging out, though, she resumes performing in the cantina that would otherwise be completely empty of entertainers. The guildies and neighbors who stop by for buffs would not have shuttled to a starport then flown to Cornett just to fly all the way back. They were going hunting with or without buffs, but because her cantina is staffed and available, they often choose to get the buffs... meaning we really aren't affecting Coronet or Theed cantinas. Just wanted to provide this glimpse into how some play their character. Just because you may happen to be a social butterfly or you get your in-game kicks from chatting it up with folks in a crowded cantina doesn't mean every entertainer should be forced to play the game your way. She is a real person, and real player, and she derives real enjoyment from how she plays (verrry swank cantina and thriving merchant business). Take away the ability to afk macro, and you've killed her entire desire to play. Decorating a player cantina is a thing of art and dedication, and its only worthwhile if people see it. She would abhor doing what you do. She doesn't want to stand in a crowded NPC cantina chatting with random strangers hoping for tips. It's great that some of you DO love it, but don't force others to conform to your cookiee cutter vision of the performer class. I think the inevitable death of the hologrinding will give you folks some relief from the npc cantina afk'ers.

On a constructive note, let me add that I think performers should receive some form of battlefield ability. Give them something that only a live player can accomplish... some kind of group-beneficial abilities.
