Only a few music healing xp left till master musician on my alt!!! Now that i'm almost a master i'd like to start giving my friends some mind buffs (no worries i'm not gonna be anotha afk macroer). Could anyone lend me some of their musician wisdom and tell me some facts about mind buffing? How long does it take to do it? What is the command? (i can't seem to find a command to focus my performance on a single person) Does it take longer to buff ppl passively? (meaning to group buff vs. focus).

Grats in advance, ChronoGod!

FWIW, there's a buff FAQ sticki'ed in this forum that answers most of your questions. The single-target command is /setperform, abbreviated as /setp. You can click to target the recipient, or just type /setp <targetname>. As for time to buff, it takes me six to eight minutes, but others can buff much quicker; if you knock around this forum a bit, you'll find suggestions. They all involve macros, which isn't my style. As for time in a group vs the /setp buff, I honestly don't know if there's a difference. There was, in theory, supposed to be a difference, and my FAQ reflects that. But in practice, it doesn't seem to much matter.

Anyway, congrats once again, and welcome to the forum.

I usually run 2 flourish macros when buffing (each giving 2 flourishes every 10 seconds) Using these macros lets me give a buff in 5 minutes time. It' probably finishes the buff sooner, but I stick to 5 minutes. Only reason I use the macros is so that I don't have to hit a flourish key constantly and leaves me free to actually talk to other players (hands free to type). 2 of the entertainer tree horns sound exactly like the Chid Horn and the other 2 entertainer tree horns sound exactly like the Traz, so you only really need the Chid and Traz for the full set of horn sounds. Though I've never taken the time to actually compare the Ommni Box and the Bandfill, I am told they sound the same as well. Using hand held instruments lets you have your targetting mind wander around the room, as opposed to the floor instruments which you have to have targetted each time an experience tick goes by (every 10 seconds) or else you stop playing.

Light effects, effects droids, and playback droids have no impact on buffing, but make for a more enjoyable show. A playback droid playing bandfill, mandoviol,or nalargon makes a great backup to a horn. I normally thank my customers for their very generous tips, even if the tip isn't much. I also do not have a set price for buffs, therefore I cannot be accused of overcharging. When asked what I charge, I tell them that they may tip whatever they feel is fair. My tips range from 2000 to 20000 credits.

At this time, a player cannot receive a Dance buff and a Music buff at the same time. Some new bug introduced at publish.

Overall though, I enjoy the interaction I have with other players. I have most of the macrotainers on my ignore list, but there are still plenty of actual players to talk to. Playing pranks is always worth a good laugh. (/emote pilfers an item from your inventory and replaces it with an exact replica), hehe, just have to watch out for those more challenged players that take you seriously. (Really! There is no way possible for me to pick your pocket!)

Have fun

here's what i have for a flourish macro:

/flourish#;

/flourish#;

/pause 8;

/flourish#;

/flourish#;

/pause 8;

/macro flourish

i find that i can pull off flourishes every 8 seconds and someone said that the double flourish works better/faster so i put that in. I don't have to worry about pausing it for the action bar to increase as i'm also a MD and can buff my quickness stat.

Does the double flourish actually do anything? Or is this just cantina grapes off the grapevine?

The ol' mining outpost is always hoppin on my server. I have a macro hotkeyed for my buffs, goes like this:

/ventriliquism;

/setperform;

/alarmaddin 0 3 buff done;

So I target 'em and click, then watch the effect go off on them and I know it took (once in a while I might accidentally target their chair, and then the effect doesn't go off). Some people have like more sophisticated macros, keeping you targeted and sending you tells the whole while giving you updates on how much longer every minute, but I figure they can wait the damn 3 minutes. Stay drunk or fed for action and flourish like mad.
