How about just making it so that IF you are /listen or /watch and you /tip them, you get a small boost in your healing rate (seeeeeee doesn't it make you feel better to give?). Perhaps a ratio of something along the lines of 1:10 Tip 100 credits, burst heal 10 BF.

A good suggestion. With your idea, we WOULD make much more in credits. However as a Master Ent/Master Musician, I can heal 900 BF in about the time it takes to run the patented quickie buff. Many of us agree that we already heal wounds and fatigue too fast.
We would be reduced to heal machines whose only interraction with patrons would be the tip. We would have folks tipping the exact amount needed to get their entire BF healed in one burst. They come in, they tip, they get their burst, they run back out to grind more solo missions at 30 - 40k a pop.

Thanks for thinking in terms of finding motivations/rewards for the combatters in our mechanics. I honestly think that if we want them to tip us and if we want them to /watch/listen to ATK performers that the game will have to provide them with a large enough reward that they will find it "worth their while".
My concern isthat any reward to encourage tipping or ATK interaction thatincreases our ability to heal mind wounds or bf would be ineffective. 100% of the combatters to whom I have spoken consider the benefit of our healing abilities to be a side effect of the buffing process. They have expressed that they consider buffs a necessity, without which they can not compete, and mind wound and bf healing is just something that happens while they're getting buffs.

Fett3041,
I'm not sure i understand why you want to slow down the process? What is the benifit to keeping them there longer?

Tyim, many Master Musicians find that they heal almost too fast, and thus that customers don't hang around for more than a minute or two. I sometimes miss my days as a Novice Entertainer, when players would have to sit and shmooze for 5 or 10 minutes while they heal. Of course, sometimes they go AFK anyway, but still, it's nice to have an audience rather than an empty cantina.

hmmmm,
i understand the thought, buti have always found it hard to enjoy the cantina. too much spam. no organization. if folks actually grouped and played tunes together on a stage, or at least set up as a group in a corner, and for god sakes STOPPED spamming, i would find it much more immersive.
Also most folks don't need the cantina for socializing. We use guild chat for that, and socializing with all that visual noise is just toomuch of a headache.

Yes Tyim the cantina is like that thanks to AFK play. But its equally as frustrating to go to a good meatlump spawn spot and see some afk combatent farming experience. AFK play is killing so much its sad.
If it took longer and the AFK play were gone the cantina would be a place to socialize and even meet people outside your own guild.

Back in the day (sheesh I sound old) it took a good long time to heal fatigue and wounds. Patrons would come in, have a seat in chairs, and start watching and listening to the show. AFK play was almost nonexistant, as was tip/heal/invite spam. Entertainers would start up conversations with patrons, commenting on what impressive creatures they must be fighting to attain such wounds, and patrons would discuss the uberness of tortons, the viscousness of tusk cats, then flirt politely with the ladies.
Cantinas were a place of social gathering, while wounds and fatigue were healed, and both patrons and Entertainers appreciated the interraction.
Many of the patrons I met in those days I still consider my friends, and still chat with on a regular basis. Rebel, Imperial, Neutral, they're all... well... almost family.
Yes, there is guild chat. If that's all you want, then great. I prefer to meet new people, get to know them, and make new friends. And the Cantina is the perfect place for this. Well, it was until the AFK macro became the norm.
If you don't care for the situation at one of your server's cantinas, try some other ones. I can't abide Coronet nor Theed on Tempest. Too much going on in those places that I don't agree with. However, there are plenty of cantinas around. I found a 'second home' in the Mining Outpost on Dantooine. Lots of friendly people, and small venue. Check around, and check with your server's Live Entertainer chat channel to see how the action is in other cantinas.

I started out with Tral as an Artisan the day after launchand Ispent a good deal of time in the Coronet cantinachatting with the Entertainment while I crafted, even when I didn't need healed. There wasn't a lot of lag, and it was really fun. The Coronet cantina used to be my favorite place until if filled up with macrospamming AFK'ers. Now I don't go close to that place unless I'm in dire need of a buff.
I actually think this suggestion of burst healing wouldn't be a bad thing in the future...after AFK macrotainers are gone. It would give the combat types a reason to feel like tipping again. Many of them have gotten rusty in their tipping habits because they don't value the services we provide.

Tralmek's post hit the main nerve i feel. People hit the buffbots already, now the buffbots would get two birds with one stone. Add more money to the mix and they would increase in numbers, genertaing and even larger rift than we currently face.
MY list of /addignore is staggering, and they only include names of entertainers...the spammers in cantinas. Especially make me sad when i see someone holding a slitherhorn playing sw1 but they already have the finest crafted spam macro's made...including "listen to me so i can get my r2 helper quests done."

I really think the only way to correct the most glaring mechanical issues impacting the lack of interdependency between performers and their patrons would be to require an interface for both buffing and healing that is not possible to Auto-It or in-game macro through. The only method that currently exists for that is the random number generation popup when you destroy a structure and the Image Designer interface. (And that could probably be worked around via Auto-It...yes, it'd be illegal. So? So's credit duping.)
