Thread: One for the KB: how do you command Entertainer droids?

A friend of mine and I both have some entertainer skills, but are not master. We were given a pair of droids: R5 with foam installed and MSE with foam and light. Yet we cannot get them to "work" nor can we find any information anywhere about how. Apparently we're overlooking something obvious, or they're bugged.
1. Do we have to be master musicians to use the entertainer droids?
- Nope - you have to be either a novice musician or novice dancer
2. Is there a skill requirement aside from ME, perhaps?
- Same answer as #1
3. Is it supposed to be on the radial menu? (It's not on ours).
- Once you are a novice musician or novice entertainier, there will be a radial option on the droids to turn the effects on and off. Stemming from that option is an option to configure the effects. If you're still in novice-entertainer land, though, it won't be there.
4. Are there any / commands to use the droids?
- No.
From the lack of questions from other entertainers, there's something totally obvious we're overlooking. The only thing we can think of is that maybe you have to be ME.
Again, you don't have to be a master entertainer, but you do have to have started on an elite profession (musician or dancer). Novice entertainers can't use them at all.
Help?
Elizor Tanguri, Starsider.

"Tanguri? It means 'dabbler' in Zabrak. Why do you ask?"
It might be a good idea for us to work up a Knowledge Base entry on the musical droids. Anyone care to draft one? I've spent enough time with the things that I think I could do a KB entry, but I'm not sure I'm as much an expert as some of you.
Also, I do plan to convert my existing KB thread into a general Musician FAQ. I started work on this a little while ago and got sidetracked, but I should be able to find some time to finish it up soon.

If no one beats me to it, I can make an attempt at this. As both a DE and a Musician (so close to master... I can taste it...) I have a pretty decent perspective on these and I can fiddle around with them to test out theories and such.
Alrighty, here's what I came up with:
Droid Playback Module: User's Manual
It's a bit lengthy, but I'm sure we can all whittle it down a bit and come up with something useful. Please feel free to comment.

Onionsbyte, that looks good. I'll see about getting it into the KB. I've also got to do a FAQ Revamp for this forum. I may cut-and-paste all the FAQs into one giant FAQ thread; or I may set up links to different threads; or I may do both. Whatever I do, I'll include this. Just ... need ... more ... time. Between testing JTL, testing the new Musician quests, normal Correspondent duties, and running my city on Live, this game is consuming my life. In a good way.
As it happens, I had a droid problem last night, playing with Furiae in my city cantina. We each had our droids grouped, and each droid had Ballad recorded. But when we did a /startband, the droids didn't work right. Mine played for a second and then stopped. I kicked him, tweaked, oiled, greased: couldn't get him to play in a group with us. I know he had power. Silly droid. Anyway, do you have any suggestions on why we had trouble? If so, maybe you'd consider addingthem to yourFAQ.
I've been having similar problems. Some times the droid won't stop with a /stopband command and while playing the Flourishes "skip" and end like half a second too soon.
The last time it got screwed up this is what happened:
My droid was grouped with a fairly large band for lighting purposes. The song it had recorded on it was Bandfill-Folk. At the moment we were playing Jazz. Eventually we do a /changebandmusic folk and the droid started playing. However, because there was also a bandfill player in the group, I didn't notice at the time. Then, when we all stopped he kept on playing and wouldn't stop until I stored him.
My guess is that if you start the playback through anything but the Radial menu it will get screwed up.
Seems to be a new bug with Publish 10 as I don't remember such a thing before.
