Thread: New opportunities with playback droids

I'm starting to write more compositions that require multiple instruments. Naturally I don't always have other musicians around to try the parts so I did some experimenting last night. I have two droids that contain a playback module. I recorded an instrument on each and then gave one of the droids to my lady. We pulled both droids and grouped them then she befriendedthe droid to me. I was then able to drive three different instruments using two droids at the same time with only one musician present. So it is possible to create an entire band with one musician and a few friends who have playback droids. I must now go out and recruit a fewladies to do a dance line for me and hold my band for me 
If you haven't used befriend it is a trainable command. Once the pet knows the command you can target another individual and issue the command. The pet will then follow that persons instructions until you store the pet.

This is an excellent tip! I will play around with this tonight as I have an alt I can use to befriend a droid to me. If I can have the Nalargon, a Mandoviol and bandfill playing all at once I will rock!

I guess it was the old CH in me that got me thinking. Hmmm Iwas able tolet others command myrancor what about music droids hmmmm.
I did fail to mention you cannot use the droids radial so you cannot record new tracks. Be sure you have all tracks you want recorded before loaning the droid to a friend.

Darn. I tried something similar...my alt is a Master Merchant/Droid Engineer, and I made a confetti-spewing barker droid. But when Tarot pulled it out, Nehroon couldn't command it to bark, even friended. 
I don't remember if I got around to giving it to Nehroon and seeing if Tarot could fire off the confetti effect.

Well I had a play with this last night and had some fun. I loaded my alt and passed an R3 droid with 6 playback modules on it and all loaded with Bandfill recordings. I then got my R3 out with Nalargon recordings. I befriended my alts droid to me, and then commanded both droids to group. Out came the Mandoviol and a quick tap of the foot, and on the count of 3 I comanded the band to start */startb ceremonial*. Both droids started playing and once I started to band flourish I was rocking. This is a very neat trick and one that I will probably use often when I am the only one playing in any location.
The only downside is you need to have a friend or alt to lend you their droid. Now if we could only convince the devs to let us have 2 droids out at once. I mean Luke had R2-D2 and C3PO at once didn't he? I'm sure he didn't get a message flash in front of his eyes saying he couldn't!
