Thread: Good discussion's about entertainer deleted.

Thats right fellow entertainers ... for most of you who know me, you know that I have resigned to that fact that the only part of entertainer I can affect is entertaining on my server... I started a thread with good feedback and u know what.... it was deleted.... now it didn't violate TOS, it didn't get to be a flame war, and it *did* provide some valuable information to improve entertainers on ahazi... now i can enver see that information because why? well because the devs don't want to improve ents, in fact the give a mother F-U-kabout us and want to harm the prof so they can remove it.... thus the mods remove threads that can improve the prof... thanks devs! *middle finger*
I think you're taking the whole conspiracy theory thing a bit far... I really don't think the Dev's have any secret agenda against entertainers. I've got a couple theories on why things haven't been fixed that make a bit more sense to me (and as far as your post getting deleated, someone may have started up some flames since the last time you had checked it or it may have gotten caught in a forum hiccup, I've seen that happen).
1. Entertainer is really a new concept in MMORPG's. A profession whose primary focus is socializing. They may not know how to fix it exactly.
2. We aren't "broken". Before you start flaming, we do have a lot of things that need to be upgraded/changed/revamped etc, but the core of our profession works. We don't have instruments we can't play, we don't have songs we can't play, we don't have bugs that stop us from healing/buffing people (not that I'm aware of at least).
3. Complaints. I know I've seen a post before from one of the devs or forum admins that said they prioritize stuff based on the number of calls they get to their CS center. Entertainers in general tend to be a more patient and understanding group, and are not as likely to call and complain every day as a lot of the combat types.
4. Numbers... As much as I'd like to forget it sometimes, this is a business. Its all about making the largest populations happy.
Now, that being said, this doesn't mean they never need to revamp the entertainer professions, it just means there's no conspiracy against us.

You're saying it, the rest of us are thinking it. I've got to say every piece of evidence we have points to your conclusions.

This is exactly why more attention should be given to the Social playstyle, not less. The Devs have a chance to develop (imagine that, Developers developing) the playstyle into anything. They're the first ones to have it in their game, they should be working overtime to make it the equal of other playstyles. We've given plenty of ideas on how to improve the style. We've given them several directions to take it. So far, they've just let it float ever further down the sewer.
2. We aren't "broken". Before you start flaming, we do have a lot of things that need to be upgraded/changed/revamped etc, but the core of our profession works. I count the Nalargon/Ommni Box targeting broken. Theaters are broken. Buffs have a good chance of not taking. Dancer/Musician buffs can't be applied simultaneously. /changebandmusic is bugged to near-uselessness. /startbandmusic is bugged to near-uselessness. The macro system allows for endless exploitation of the macros.

Good things come to those who wait. Jedi have something like 4 publishes devoted to them, combatants get something nearly every publish, crafters even have things slowly added for them. We're at 15 months and counting...where is our stuff? It seems we've only gotten more broken as time goes on. Perhaps we should start revolting a little.
4. Numbers... As much as I'd like to forget it sometimes, this is a business. Its all about making the largest populations happy.
True, there used to be a lot more Entertainers, but given the Dev indifference they've lost a lot of these people. That doesn't seem great for business. If they keep it up, they're going to lose me too.
Now, that being said, this doesn't mean they never need to revamp the entertainer professions, it just means there's no conspiracy against us.
No, those are all great ideas on why we are 15 months into the live game and are nearly a dead profession, but I find myself agreeing with fFW. They could show us more courtesy, even if they were going to continue doing nothing for us. There is such a thing as common human decency, but SOE doesn't seem to have it.

I know I am at the end of my rope. My patience has run out. My dancing skills are gone, as is my Master Image Designer andthe rest of my ID skills are soon to follow.
I have jumped on the Devil's bandwagon and am going to open a second character slot, and turn that fellow into my Entertainer.
After having been a Master Entertainer / Master Musician almost as long as the game has been live ( took a few weeks to grind to the top ya know) its a hard pill to swallow having to screw my character up, but it appears to be the truth that we are a profession that is not wanted.

This STILL angers me to no end. I did not create a character and put more than a year into developing him, only to throw that all away to play a character that's not intended to be played on a regular basis (see Tiggs' post regarding the three week wait to have Jedi visibility fade). I don't want a second character to support my Jedi (I'm one of those who detests twinks), I want my Jedi to play when the bots invade the cantina and I feel the need to kill something.
Yes, $OE has the authority to change gameplay as they see fit. Doesn't make it right.
