In various NPC cities around the galaxy you can find static Nalargon's & Omni-boxes.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to use these?
Whats that you say, We can use the one's in Coronet!
That's nice, and yes we can.
It'd be nice to be able to use the ones in ALL NPC cities!
Bestine, for example, the Nalargon outside the spaceport isn't selectable and therefore isn't useable.
Anyone else got a comment on this?

I wasn't aware all of these weren't playable, my question though is can you heal BF and mental wounds or give buffs at them? If not why? They seem to me like great places for an entertainer to solicit her/his services.

Yes indeed, not all of them are useable.
I'm pretty sure that you can use them to buff or heal BF as they are not in a cantina and with the targeting issues you'd stop playing if you clicked on the person you wanted to buff..... shame really.
There are other cities where they can't be played, Boaba Gurfel (sp) for example, which i've also /bug....
Kinda annoying as lining my Nalargon to match the spot where they are placed is fun!!

use /setperfor (name) no need to target that way for a buff

Hmm, I wonder if we should try to come up with a list of which do and don't work, and then ask the devs to fix the non-working ones. As I recall, the nalargon in Mos Espa does work. And I think so does the one near Theed starport, though I could be wrong about that. Anyway, I'm happy to raise it, butthe devs would surely regard it as a low-priority issue.
While we're on the subject, do people think these places should heal BF or cure mind wounds? Or would that again unduly undermine the cantina?
Also, I know speakers don't do anything (right?), but do those outdoor microphones do anything? Do microphones ever do anything? I dimly recall some argument back and forth about that a while ago. I assume the answer is no.

Instruments outside Theed are playable, the microphones do not work.
I think making these areas close to the starports into "healing zones" would, in the long run, kill the cantinas. My friends and I jam at these sites for fun and public goodwill, not to heal and suck xps from Entertainers in the cantina. Most of us are Master level and have no big needfor experience, but even still if these areas "worked" then the closer is better mentality would take over yet again and any cantina would die a slow death. Camping (as discussed in the other thread) is by its very nature temporary and limited to the wilderness, and wouldn't have much negative impact on cantina work, but these venues would.

Exactly. Allowing us to heal outside the cantinas would make the cantinas pointless, much like med centers are now.
However, it would be nice to have more venues with patrons when the buffbots take over the cantinas. Until they either kill recursive macros, make unattended play warnable/bannable, or institute the AFK/buffbot TEF, there's not much we can do about it.

That's kinda what I figured; people would prefer to keep healing in the cantinas than on the city streets.

especially since you can often find them by starports, the last thing we need is more spam.

That statement is not entirely accurate and you know it. I realize I'm a freak for wanting to be treated with the same amount of consideration by developers and players as medics/doctors are...but I'm not the only one. I think I'm just the most stubborn and the loudest.
Most performers would prefer to stay locked in Cantinas.

OK, most performers would prefer to stay in the cantina. I was just commenting on the replies I got to my question; I didn't mean to speak for all people at all time, especially since I myself am ambivalent about it. Me, I'd like to see us get out of the cantina in other ways. If it were up to me, we'd be the game's espionage class, with Mata Hari-style quests and goals and Theme Parks. I also wish the focus weren't cantina, cantina, cantina. Why don't people hang out in hotels and theaters? They're more interesting in many ways. Even in the Crawls I've been on, we go from cantina to cantina.
In any case, Echinacea, I'm sure you'd agree that no one wants cantinas to turn into medical centers, which are so often unused now. The only medical center I ever visit are the little NPC ones on Dathomir and Endor -- never in a player city or NPC city.
