If I try to start and stop music, I have what I think is a 15 second delay.
"What is up with that?"
Now my droid is my only hope of keeping the music going while I'm switching instruments...

It is inconvenient not being able to quick change instruments. There were reasons for it, however I can't seem to recall them. heheh.

There was a Speedbuff exploit a while backby starting and stopping tunes rapidly, this was the fix.

Of course, those who utilized the exploit are as extinct as holo-grinding and we're left with the consequences.

On the other hand, you don't have to start/stop if you don't want to. It doesn't sound quite as nice, but you can always /changesong instead.

The problem is when you want to change instruments you have to wait to get back into the tune.
Its really dumb.

Esh,
Sorry but....
I used it.....heck I was one of the first to figure it out.
But I stopped soon after and never posted how to do it. Somone else decided to in the Speedbuff thread I made.

If you're playing by yourself, you can use /startband to bypass the 15 second delay.

they really need to fix this.
I don't care why they put it in... it's just wrong. I'd rather there be an exploit then have to wait the stupid 15 seconds.
I mean if you group people together you can buff them all in 4 minutes (don't ask me why anyone would solo buff someone anymore)
argh!

Well....when it was in there, not only could you do a music buff in about 30 seconds, you could do dance buffs in 8 seconds. Also, they worked grouped or solo. I think my record was buffing 15 people in under a minute (you had to explain it a LOT).
In addition to the buff exploit, the /stop/start had a side effect of incresing the rate you got XP. It wassomething like 4X the normal rate of XP gain. You'd just get 3 or 4 xp "ticks" every 10 seconds rather than just one. Personally I believe that thiswas the more "important" factor that made the devs put in the 15 second delay. Its kinda like how they really didn't care about bots until combat bots showed up.
Next, the volume of systemtraffic for this was insane. Each person doing a buff like this (or grinding xp) was executing aprox 32 commands per second. Each person listening or even just inthe group with the person got a message for each /stop and /start. When people using this exploit was at its peak, I saw FULL GROUPS of people grinding XP with this. Luckily, that didn't last long.
Finally, it sounded VERY VERY bad. OK doing SW1 with this on a Chid (or Kloo or Fizzz) wasn't so bad......SW1 starts with a trumpet "blast" on Chid so it would play that and stop then blast again, and again and again.....But I think I'm the only person who took the time to figure that out. Generally it sounded like @#$%.
The 15 second delay was put in because it was easier for the devs to do that than re-write flourish limitations orthe XP gain formulae. The real stopper for the buff exploit was the 2 minute minimum. This one was also to combat the XP gain exploit.
