I'm curious how experimentation effects instruments when you are crafting. I was making a mandoviol last night and experimented on the quality to get it to %54, but I have no idea how/if this actually effects the instrument. Nothing changed on the item description. Does it do anything at all?

I also assume experimenting on durability is worthless since they don't decay.

Any insight would be appreciated.

As of now, nothing is gained or lost with experimentation on your instruments.
They might work something out later on for isntruments, but now it's just for the fun of it, to get that Q93 isntrument.

hmm bummer. I was hoping there was some bonus gained to wound/fatigue healing or something like that. I could see a big market for that, or maybe instruments with buffs to the action/stamina bar. Would actually create a market for instrument crafters.

Since experimentation comes from artisan and instrument crafting from musician, I don't see how experimentation can affect instrument and why.

Unfortunately better stats wouldn't really be a benefeit to the entertainers, so it wouldn't be a big market, except maybe as nice gifts from customers.

If those stats gave a bonus to healing abilities, or action/stamina they would be very useful to entertainers.

Ok.. im a new Musician.

Last night i decided to make my own instrument, and I noticed that i could experiment on it.

Can anyone tell me what the experimental quality of the instrument does?

Thanks

I hold out hope that some day instrument quality will matter. I've talked to the devs about having it influence our buff in some way, and they seemed open to that suggestion but didn't seem to think they'd be able to implement it quickly. We just asked this question in our "top 10 questions" for the devs, so we'll see what they say now.

Ummm...when you experiment on something, you get more xp for making it? (The complexity goes up wither you succeed or fail. And you get a slight bonus to the experience you get for making something based on its complexity.) That's about the most use you can get out of instrument experimentation right now. And if you're crafting your way through music, you're hopefully not crazy enough to experiment on each and every one.

I've tested experimentation with my artisan character, and I've found that you get just as much xp on artisan items by only doing 1 box of experimentation as you do by using 10. I imagine its the same with instruments, at this point you're probably best off making lots of instruments fast than experimenting on all of them, because you won't make nearly as many instruments and probably not make nearly as much xp.

(but if you want to try it and let us know out here, that'd be great too. 8-b )

Heh heh the good thing about instrument crafting is that if you crit-fail on experimentation, you don't have to worry about the product being inferior --and of course the bad thing is that you could experiment up to 99.9% and not have a superior instrument.
