Thread: Anyone interested in a Song/Instrument Breakdown List?

I made a PDF with all the current songs (up to Western) including all complimentary-sounding instruments. Since many of the instruments are "duped" (same sound for multiple instruments for a single song), it can be frustrating for musicians to weed out all the "bad" instruments or find good combos. I'm currently at work so can't post it till I get home. So, if there are enough replies and interest in such a list, I'll put it on my webspace and provide a link.

Another reason I posted this is I'm not sure someone has done this already. My list works with any number of musicians, since all instruments in the song listings were picked as direct or indirect compliments (lead and backup instruments are pointed out), though some songs have a limited list on purpose.

Thanks in advance for feedback.

You might want to put the same information over there under the musician section.

Not sure how the duplicate sounds complicate things, since they are consistently duplicated across all the music. You can effectively just treat all the dupes as a single instrument.

Inside my heart is breaking, my make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends

There is already a page for the Instruments on the variety site some of the this information. You could add your orchestration recommendations under the appropriate song title and cross reference.
