NPC pets, or vendors.......

This is a 2 part idea:

  1. Allow elite musicians to obtain "pets" in the form of NPC's that we can group with to make our own bands and entertain.. The type of NPC pet would be based upon level and skill of the musician.. This can be code very much like CH is.. One branch of our skill tree can control the NUMBER of NPC pets we can "call", another branch could determine the level of NPC pet.. This means a low level NPC pet musician would be a NPC with a slitherhorn, whereas a higher level pet might have a fizz, or a Omni box.. A true starting novice musician may only be allowed a simple 1 NPC pet partner with a slitherhorn , while a Master Musician could end up having 3-5 NPC pets using various instruments form slitherhorns to Omin box.. ALL of which can be controlled using the /bandflo commands

  2. Allow Master Musicians that can place Theaters/Cantinas the ability to make an NPC music vendor.. This would be just like a Merchant ability.. The master musician goes to the control panel and creates a Musician Vendor, that can be placed inside.. This vendor would cost a maintance cost just like current vendors, but would allow base entry level novice healing.. For those empty player city cantinas a master musician could place vendor that would allow healing 24/7.. Anyone wishing to be healed by this NEW music vendor would click to converse.. It will give you the option to "listen" for money.. If you accept you are charged by SOE a flat rate for a flat amount of play time.. If you aren't healed up by the end of that time, you must click again and pay for more healing.. If the charge for playing is set right it will NOT interfer with tips and live performers, but give player city cantinas the abilityto heal their citizens at a cost due to lack of LIVE entertainers..

Just a thought

like the idea of the Musican vendor, But shuould be so he only heals wounds and not BF and make it an pretty high price to listen to him. or maybe just make him realy lousy so it takes an long time healing up.

I'd say make it Musician/Dancer only, not Entertainer. Or give Master Entertainer the same level as Novice Musician/Dancer. And give Dancers the same perk. Chorous line, anyone? 1 band/troupe member at Master Entertainer/Novice Musician/Novice Dancer, 1 more at Fatigue Healing II, 1 more at Wound Healing II,1 more at Master Musician/Dancer. Or if 3 total is all a PC can control due to existing pet code, 1 at Master Entertainer/Novice performer, 1 at Fatigue HealingIII and 1 at Master. Give us a reason other than the Mind Enhancement at Master to do the healing lines. (Though I think that's where the Mind Enhancement should be in the first place. Mind Wound Healing, specifically.) That way at Master level, you could have a good range of sounds. Your 'pets' could only play an instrument if you handed it to them. (Money/resource sink to keep handing your pets instruments.) They could only play something youyourself knew. Be cool if we could generate Bith or Ortolan (Max Rebo's species) musicians, hey?

The only way this wouldn't devalue live performers is if the cost were something that couldn't be changed by the Cantina owner, and was HIGH. And if the 'jukebox' only healed at the Novice Entertainer, non-Twi'lek rate. But other than that, I think it would help promote the growth of Player Cities.

Thanks.. sorry I left some areas cloudy or grey.. I would not want any of these areas exploited or abused, but want them to add content to the Musicians.. I didn't want to get into the idea of allow "dancer" pets because that is not our expertise.. Musician's get musician pets, and Dancers get dancing pets.. I would allow a Master Entertainer basic novice elite skills but no more ( 1 pet and very low level ) I personally think it would be great if a Master Musician could preform a show for their customers in a cantina buy calling out 5 assorted types ofmusicians that are always ONE level lower then our own skills.. A novice musician could not call a pet that has an Omni box.. The Musician would have to have ONE step higher in instrument then the pet.. Further any "pets" in the group would NOT effect skill points aquired.. If you get 40 pts for a flourish by yourself, you get the same skill points even with added pets..

In addition if 2 master musicians group together they could technically have a total of 10 pets, bringing the group total to 12.... GREAT for theater performances of the "big band" idea..

As for the "music vendor".. All the Master could do is place the NPC vendor and choose what type.. They would have no control over the maintaince fee or the charge for playing.. A vendor might cost 500 a day to run.. MONEYSINK to SOE... Futher it will ONLY heal at a rate equal to novice entertainer level and it would cost 5,000 credits per minute of play (another moneysink to SOE).. If it takes you more then one minute to heal up, then it will cost you more.. I only used that figure as an example that I do want it "sting" when using a NPC musician vendor, and that we should endorse and promote LIVE entertainers instead.. Tips welcomed.. But for those player cities that have a hard time keeping or getting entertainers to stay there healing the fighters, it's an option controlled by the Master Musician/Dancer..

CHEF/MERCHANTS would not have this option to them.. Only a master musician/dancer can place a NPC healing vendor

Well, I was thinking that if a 'pet' couldn't do anything you couldn't do yourself, that would mean that there'd kinda be little point in having more than 4 total...and that only if you were also a Master Entertainer. You'd play one instrument, and if you have 3 'pet' musicians, they fill out with the other sound types you know. Unless you're a Master Entertainer and can hand one a mandoviol. And I'm not even sure we should be able to give them Narlagons or Ommni Boxes anyway...those two are hard enough to cope with, code-wise, on a player character because they're out on-the-floor items.

/sigh Not that there's really much point in entertaining the notion anyway...we're far too low on the totem pole to get that kind of an upgrade/perk.
