Thread: AFK ... here's your fix
New Jedi here is something I hope gets passed to the devs
Since theaters are basicly not used and have trainers since they are guild halls.....
have the theaters give double or tripple xp but not do any healing what so ever... this way the grinders can grind and those who dont can go to the cantina to heal and have fun with the customers.... its and easy fix and makes it so afk doesnt matter... also make the theaters still give the ent healing xp or else it would not fix the problem

but if the "grinders" want to grind the healing xp also, they are going to have to go to the cantinas. hence, it is still full of afk grinders, except that now the afk grinders can play all the songs and do the tech moves. still leads to 20 people standing around afk grinding the healing xp for mastering, holos, etc..
that is why i said that it should also give ent healikng xp there just not for actually healing ppl
but doesnt that make the entire profession way to easy. its already easier than most due to afking and easy macroing. now if we can run off to the theater and kick out the xp for healing without actually having to heal someone, then the profession becomes one that everyone!!!! does just so they can say they mastered sumthing. it totally defeats the point of leveling through it. we might as well all just start out as a master musician.
i dunno maybe im misunderstanding other peoples thoughts on it, just seems like a freebee profession for sure if they do it that way. that'd b like making pistollers get 3 times the xp for shooting at targets all day, or given tk 3x the xp for chopping at targets , etc...

This is without a doubt the most progressive thing I've read thus far on this issue.

Not a bad idea..
How about if folks are afk longer then, lets say, 30minutes, that they can continue to play but will not recieve xp or be able to recive tips. This would force folks to play or "get off the pot" as it were.

I know that when you leave a character standing in one spot for too long, the game logs him or her off. This can be annoying when I'm, for example, crafting with one character, and have my merchant character logged on to take the merchandise and price it. Often the merchant character autologs while I'm crafting, very annoying. So I've made a macro that has him stand and sit every 5 minutes. The "afk flag" is not fooled and it turns on after 10 minutes. But the stand/sit pattern prevents logoff.
Well what if after 30 minutes of touching no keys or the mouse, you get logged out automatically, whether you're moving, macroing, or not? The program knows you're not there, as evidenced by the fact that your afk flag snaps on. That way, we can get rid of afk-macroers but not penalize the guy who has to step afk for 15 minutes b/c the cat vomited.
Problems
- third party programs that click the mouse (a no-no under the EULA but we know people will do that)
- a very low-tech technique of attaching the mouse to one of those bobbing-head birds, or anything that will jiggle it constantly
- moving the mouse while alt-tabbed out - still unattended gameplay, but I'm unclear about whether the program counts you as auto-afk or not.
Any thoughts?
I like that idea better. True you are going to have folks that figure out a not-so-legal way of going around it but they are going to have to put extra effort into doing it. I just spent some time in the Coronet cantina today and out of 18 folks in my group 3 of them were talking...the rest were afk. It is frustrating to say the least.

I posted this in its own thread, but it didn't get much attention...
What about some kind of entertainer registration terminal? Entertainers would have to walk over to the terminal every, say, 30 minutes to activate XP otherwise they get no XP. Or maybe have it tied to missions. Keep the monetary rates the same, and have these terminals near or even in the cantinas. The real key would be to make it a very minor inconvenience for entertainers, buta MAJOR inconvenience to AFKers.

no your right in one way it cheepens being a master because it does become easier.... but of course if you are a pistoleer and go big game hunting in groups then your xp does go up much more then ours ever would.... plus most of the people mastering are doing so just to master it and drop and at least this way they dont destroy our gameplay by doing so
