Thread: Improved XP in player cantina's

Ok, I hear new songs are coming - bout time, but I wont hold my breath

We need to make player cantinas the place to be for dancers and musicians - and this will only cause an AFk issue (for those that have AFK issues) if you cant be bothered to ban them and police it (which after all is what a RL owner would be doing with undesriables).


So We need XP multipliers for player cantinas, bit like Bio engin clothes if you like, for limited time (decided by master, maybe he buys a 'thing' and uses it) the players and dancers get multiplied XP while performing inthe cantina. Now I know this is no use to maxed out masters - like me, BUT


2 things - one it will get the f;ing holo chasers out of the way a **edit** site faster and 2 it will make player cantinas a place to be under the control of the master/owner

You're right about the masters not needing the xp.


So here's how I'd change it: Make it so players get healed faster in Player Cantinas. Orquicker/bigger buffs? Then the boss can kick out AFK's (if desired)and the combat types will still want to come to the Player Cantinas instead of the static city mad house.



In the above scenario, we have masters playing where they want to play and clients/ audience coming of their own free will to that same place. Adding an xp multiplyer for musicians/dancers in player cantinas will only empty the static city cantinas entirely. I think there will be some "AFK only" or AFK friendly (at the least) player cantinas out there if an xp multiplyer is introduced. That method will entice the holo grindersto go to player cantinas. My suggestion of allowing theclients shorter healing times or perhaps larger mind buffs will instead draw the audience out to the player cantinas where the owner has a say on which performers can stay and which are unwelcome.


I think reinforcing the clients in player cantinas will get us better results all around than upping the xp for us (which gives the audience nothing and only draws in the achiever-type macro-to-master and holo-grind types). Not to disregard anyone's playstyle. I think, however, that my suggestion allows the same ability for the people who like to AFK macro while reinforcing the audience to come to the player cantinas where the non-AFK types like to control with and to whom they play.

Thanks, I added it to New Jedi's post on AFK suggestions.


Still, like I said, it's not a fix, just a draw to a location where we have more power and choices.

Xp mutipliers what for?


I really don't see the need to allow such thing for players cantina. I read several times your post trying to figure what you are seeking and what can be your motives.


It will allow abuse, and easy the FS seeker.


I assume i 'm eager to get the FS open. My nice holo tells me "go the musician way". As i'm in a guild or i know a player who own a cantina , i ask him to play afk in his cantina getting the bonus xp! Less time , less efforts.


It's not in making easier the entertainer profession that you would solve afk problem and so on. All we need it's interest, background. Entertainer professions are in a dead end. And it is an illusion to believe that new songs or new flourishes will win the day. It will be fun a moment and then in six months what's next?


I will agreed with better xp gain but in a different way.


First BF healing or wound healing must not be a passiv mode. When someone come in a cantina for healing, he should go to an entertainer and ask for it. Then the entertainer must /setp on the player. XP will beearned according to the song and the instruments. No more need of the deny command that no one really use. Our healings will be as the medic one. The afk mode is killed because you cannot heal and gain xp if u don't /setp on your target and as you will only earn xp by healings.... To the dev to figure a mean to avoid macro which will allow bypasses.


Then group will be a mean to allow xp bonus if u have a masteron. I can be an bonus for each master in for example.Orwe can imagine that the master allows players to play songs and intsruments they havn't reached in order to gain better bonus. Assuming we have still an xp earnings based on the instruments and songs.

Like some of the ideas, my reasons are simple - most player cantinas are EMPTY, mine has a crowd but I pull it in each time, nearly everyone I visit is mostly empty. Holo chasers wil be with us for a little while, if they get better xp in player cantinas then they will play there but only if the cantina owner wants them (banning them is ultimate choice of the owner), same with AFK's - it will also bring people to player towns rather than just the NP cities. There is already a very small increase in player cantinas, it needs to be bigger and under the control of the cantina owner (or better a group he nominates), the buff is a good idea as its pretty muchg the only stable source of income for ents.


I read a post just now about another group who are touring all the cantinas in their galaxy to revive them - this also sounds like a great plan whic I might try.

Well the problem is simple: why should i go to an player cantina if i can find one on regular city?

Even for better buff?


Assuming i'm in tatooine and that i want to go to on naboo. i will take the shuttle to the theed starport wher i know i can find a huge not-have-to-pay-afk-wannabe-a-musician band. to go to your cantina i must be sure to find someone, second i must pay the shuttle and third i will have to pay for healings.


If citymay have starport i think it will be easier. If player were able to open new galactic line that would be fine too. if cities may be attcked by npc such as Tusken raiders or pirateand so onthat would encourage people to live in. But cities have no purposes. The travelling band is a good idea however. As soon as i

1) i must be sure to find someone,

2) i must pay the shuttle or waste time travelling towards your cantina

3)I will have to pay for healings.


And just for what : to have an better buff. Well stats doubling is enough. Less time for buff , all in all i will waste more time to go to your cantina. so it's not really an advantage

So i do hope that you will be able to find a way to attract more people in your cantina. Congrats for all you have already done because it seems to me that you are quite active on your server. However i don't think to give players cantina some special advantages is a good idea.
