It would be expensive, and macroing at night would still be needed but I think crafting would be faster if you are at the computer. Any thoughts?

The problem with the crafting idea is what usually holds people back when they are on the verge of master is healing exp not music exp, and does crafting give healing exp? I don't think so.

Hmm not sure about that.

Crafting slitherhorns is 94 xp per, you can craft enough of those to average 1000xp/minute.

I just got novice musician, and I am buffed and flourishing like crazy and i am getting mabye 180xp/minute by playing. Am I missing something? Does playing music eventually give you better xp? I am using the best instrument I can, and I am in a group.

Also...it would take a swift 435,000 units of some metal to grind instruments the entire way....bah.

Doing it now. I'd always intended my character to be Smuggler/Dancer and completed that build at the weekend with some help from my PA (I love them all). I do want to be able to play a Jedi for fun and had accumulated (via having 2 accounts) 4 holocrons for this character and as my other char is the owner of our city's medical centre I can't alter his professions (nor would I want to, he's far too much fun as he is).

So I opened a cron and got Musician. Don't get me wrong, I love hearing a full band all playing the same thing with varied instruments. It's amazing. However it happens far far too seldom. My stubborn streak rose to the surface and I decided to do this the weird way. I can dance for healing xp and get far better results, plus my PA have offered the same help again - 2 master combat medics and an 80 member PA helps a LOT

FanFars give 115xp for 55 units of metal, Kloo Horns the same xp for 40 wood, 15 metal. I have harvesters on wood right now and 135k units of steel. I've been mining Phrik alu for one of our weaponsmiths who will donate me grinding metal on a 1:1 basis, currently he owes me over 400k of cheap, useless metal.

I'm not really concerned about efficiency, I have too much respect for musicians to play in a large group making a cacophony. I'd end up absolutely hating the profession and that is no way for a dedicated dancer to treat her musician brothers *hug*. So consider this an act of defiance. I will not let the holocron destroy the entertainer in my soul. I will complete the profession without sullying anyone's ears with my squeaking and squealing, if it takes 500k units of resources and costs me hours of grinding, so be it.

Once you move up in the instruments, the Musician XP starts to fly. I was getting about 45 Music XP every tick last night while playing with a band in Theed. I was using the Bandfill myself but not sure what the other members of the band were using. So I think that came out to close to 300-400XP per minute and allowed me to chat, etc... which I wouldn't have been able to do if I was macro-crafting.

well, if this site is accurate then crafting is much faster:

http://www.swgcraft.com/showschem.php?id=chidhorn

It shows 473 xp per Chidinkalu Horn!!

You could play music or craft your way to Music Technique 3, then craft Chidinkalu Horns the rest of the way in the same night if you have the resources.

Of course, you still need the entertainer healing xp, but if you're like me you can start working on dancer for that. Then you'll have you dancing and musician xp... only you still have to wait for healing xp on both at the end.

1. Who says that you get more Music XP than Ent. Healing when playing? I'm done with Ent. Healing for Musician (yes I caried some from Master Dancer) and I still have 5 boxes of Music XP! (tech tree and Tecniques IV)... Yes I had an alt sampling radioactive gas in front of cantina and listening to me - so I get 150 ent. healing XP a tick, but still, that a lot quicker than music XP!

2. I get 80+ Music XP a tick (for two /flos - with Techniques III) - my point is how can you play your best song when in band you play the sone band is playing?! Should I solo this???

3. You get some 90+ XP for pracitsing chikolo horn (not 480 like that website says), that is same xp you get a tick playing - you can't craft one horn a tick tho!
