Thread: 30 second music buff

Ok I know it can be done and I have tried everything that my musician is capable of doing with reason. There has to be some sort of trick to this and I need to know whats up. I asked you entertainers to tell me and you played stupid....Well here is what info I have gathered. Iknow that the method is extremely action instensive and I do mean more so than just spamming endless flourishes, I do believe they do spam endless ammounts of flourishes but the dancers I have seen do not use any visible special effects...the method involves the player starting and stopping constantly so much that it happens 4 times in 1 second. I want to know how to do it. Any one here figured it out and want to share it with me?

Isuspectthe technique to which you referis not intended or sanctioned by the devs. For that reason, I've asked them for guidance on whether they consider it an exploit. (I'm not the first to have asked for guidance; other players raised it with them a while ago. So don't blame me if the devsnerf it!)I haven't had any reply yet. Until I get one, I personally am gong to stick with old-fashioned buff techniques.

Thanks NewJedi. Sounded like an exploit to me as well, but I have managed a way to get a full duration buff in as short as 3 mins by simply performing my but off. I find it doesnt work if you use a quickness buff, but you will most definitely want to have a stamina buff and action buff so the healers can keep up with your action expenditure. I hope its not an exploit )

Firstly, you can buff with a quickness buff, with a stamina buff, with an action buff, with no buff. Buffs on yourself do not affect the buffs you do at all. You should have a stamina or quickness buff or both for the 30-second version though.

Make a macro like this:

/startmusic virtuoso;

/flo 1;

/flo 2;

/flo 3;

/flo 4;

/flo 5;

/stopmusic;

/ui action toolbarSlot00;

and put that in F1. Now it will make you stop and start rapidly, circumventing the flourish limitation you would get if you were constantly playing. Since the server is a little slow though it is rather unlikely to get 2 hour buffs in 30 seconds. While possible with extreme luck, the server mostly messes this up and you dont flourish all that often to reach the 150 flourishes needed for 2 hour buffs. To prevent this, simply flourish a little longer. Some testing has shown that 40 seconds is a good duration to use this macro to get a guaranteed 2 hour buff. If you want to add some customer instructions in a more extensive macro, you should calculate with 1 minute per buff (to give the listener 10 seconds to start listening and 10 seconds extra playing to be sure).

Dumping this macro might take a few tries as the game doesnt recognize it as dumpable sometimes (it has no pauses). Just use /dump a couple of times and you can stop the macro. Or do it like me and make another "root" macro that controls this macro and contains your text and /dump (2 times to be sure) at the end, which will definately end all macros running.

By adding special effects before the /stopmusic you can rapidly execute special effects aswell. Looks a little weird if you firejet all the time or execute multiple specials at once. Don't do it too often though, its annoying and cannot be "ignored"

Again, I want to caution people that I suspect the devs will regard the 30-second buff technique as an exploit, and therefore possibly as a violation of the Terms of Service.

If it's not intended, they'll fix it and that'll be that. I doubt people are gonna get banned over this. It's not game breaking and nothing for people to get bent out of shape over.

Easy way to dump it without /dump is to change toolbars to one that doesn't have anything in the slot your macro is in.

Well considering that Chief have the ability to cook T'ssolok, i guess that dev do not intend to allow us to buff in 30 seconds.

Are they able to solve this, i don't think so, when i saw how poor the stuff they gave us is.
