I logged off with about an hour of music buffs left, next time i logged in i couldnt rebuff, presumably cos the timer was still running from my last buff. I waited an hour and tried again, still couldnt buff. I remained in game for another 5 hours, still couldnt buff. I logged off and logged back 8 hours later, still cant buff. what the hell is going on, I submitted a ticket and was told to just /bug it. Anyone ever had something similar?

Unfortunately, there are still some bugs with the buff timer resetting. The devs tell me most or all of these have been fixed in Publish 7, and I plan to try to test it to some extent on TC with my Master Musician there. But it's hard to be sure that's what's going on in your case. So some questions for you.

1. Were you wearing Composite armor when being buffed? Or were your secondary Mind stats anywhere close to zero for any other reason? There are reports that the buff doesn't work right if your secondaries are close to zero.

2.When you logged back in the first time, was the Music note icon still on your HUD, and were your Focus/Willpower stats still buffed? Did you have any other buffs (i.e., doc or chef) up during any of these buff attempts?

3. Did you die and clone any time while the buff was up? Death-while-buffed is the nastiest of the buff-timer bugs, and it only seems to be cured by waiting for a server reset.

4. Speaking of which: have you tried getting the buff after a server reset?

5. Also, I'm sure you know all this, but be sure you and the Musician are following the proper buff procedure -- Musician plays; you /listen; Musician targets you and types /setperform; Musician flourishes like crazy; you /stoplisten after 6-10 minutes depending on the skill of the Musician.

6. What species is your character?

7. Finally, what server are you on?

Sorry for all the questions, but the devs are trying to stamp out all these bugs in Publish 7, and the more info I can gather on them, the better.

I had a problem while trying to buff a RL friend of mine...so here is the info you requested from the other person...(answered from my friend's perspective)

1. no, no

2. no, no, yes--full set of doctor buffs (both of us had a full set of doctor buffs)

3. no

4. no

5. usual buffing proceedure was followed.

6. Buffer: human, Buffee: bothan

7. Bria

We tried the buff three times. The first was just after we met up, and the second attempt was in a cantina after we both cloned (we died while mind-buffed with brandy), and the third time was after we had both logged for about an hour and then came back. This third attempt was in a camp. (I didn't remember if camps allowed buffing or not, could someone enlighten me on this point?) Anyway, he never ended up getting the buff.

Ooo, ooo, point hon; something I've noticed about typing /listen and using the radial menu is that targetting the musician (or dancer) and typing /listen (or /watch) only works once. Once you type /stoplisten (or /stopwatch) after that, you have to use the radial menu to start listening (or watching) again. The /stoplisten (/stopwatch) typing of commands doesn't ever seem to get borked, but typing /listen (/watch) is twitchy. Soooo, I tell people to radially start listening to me, and type to stop.

You don't actually expect us to believe "it's fixed in publish 7" do you? Sorry, nope, I'm not falling for the little boy crying 'wolf!' again. When I know character copying is actually in place, I'll check Test Center and see, but not 'til then.

Yes, I know /listen and /watch don't always work -- but neither does the radial menu. Sometimes you don't see a watch or listen (or stopwatch/stoplisten) option on the radial menu, if there are too many other options for interaction with the performer. E.g., if you're grouped with them, the "Teach" radial option takes up one node on the radial menu.

Heh, I'm not confident it'll all be fixed in publish 7 either. That's why I plan to spend some serious time on TC testing it with my Master Musician there. I started an alt on my second account on TC yesterday to serve as my buffee for that purpose.

To the original poster: have you tried buffing today, after the server reset? That's the last resort fix, and I'll be surprised if you still can't get buffed by now.
