Does a higher level song net you more XP?

I'm curious cause I'm a Master Entertainer...and actually love -- am gonna work on musician -- but does it matter what song I like, will my XP be equal?

Or is it cumulative...the better the song, the better the XP?

When I was a young Musician, I was always told that a higher song meant more XP, so I tried to play the highest song possible. But I haven't had Music XP in many months because I'm at the cap, and now I hear from other Musicians that in fact choice of song doesn't affect XP rates. Can anyone answer this definitively?

From what i recall the key variable is not the song but the instrument used. Use the highest instrument you are qualified for. Would be a real kick in the pants if we had to lose big xp any time a new musician joined the group, and as entertainers our rears already have enough bootprints on em.

The answer is in fact in the middle.

You can use your best instrument. Or you can play your best song. A master entertainer will get as much xp playing ceremonial on the slitherhorn as they would get playing starwars1 on the mandoviol. They do not stack, however. You would still get the same xp if you played ceremonial on the mandoviol. So fear not, you've got options.

Thanks for help.

the xp given for music is dependant on either the song or instrument which ever of those 2 is the highest. you will also get extra xp for: 1. the number of performing entertainers in the group you are in. 2. those watching you. 3 any applause you get. also for the most xp you need to do 2 flourishes per xp pulse (8 seconds) more then 2 is a waste of action pool as you don't get any more xp for doing 3 or 4 flourishes in a xp pulse compared to 2 flourishes.
