I confess I've never used the command line to fire off effects. I just clicked-and-dragged the hotkeys from the CTL A menu to my hotkey bar. There are pre-made hotkeys for Dazzle, Spotlight, Ventriloquism, Colored Lights, and my favorite, Fire Jet. Dancers also get premade hotkeys, I think.

Well, as far as effects go, there's

/dazzle: the burst of yellow rings (at low level), flashing lightning-type lights later
/spotlight: A single or ring of lights focused on you.
/colorlights: Similar to /spotlight, but with different colors.
/firejet: A ring of small firespurts, and at higher levels a fire fountain.
/ventriloquism: your target gets surrounded by a small white cloud with several red lips emerging from it.

One neat trick I picked up: doing the command by itself automatically does the highest one you've obtained (the effects get bigger with more levels of Technique). But if you want, you can do "/dazzle 1" and always get the rings, or "/firejet 2" for the medium fire. Each effect has three levels.

Some commands for the music side of the performance:

/flourish #: Perform the song's flourish, # is 1-8.
/changemusic [song]: Change to a new song without stopping.
/bandflourish #: The entire band performs the specified flourish. This goes into their normal flourish queue, so unless they are all doing the base melody, it won't be in sync. Also, this uses up the same action as a /flourish, but only the person giving the command gets any xp.
/startband [song]: Starts the entire band immediately on the same song.
/stopband: Stops the entire band.
/changeband: Changes songs when playing in a band. If someone in the group is not currently playing but has an instrument equipped, they may get bugged.
/pausemusic: Stop playing for a "measure" (time to do a flourish, about 5 seconds). Useful in duets to give the other person a solo. Also handy when doing /changemusic, since you get a small break between the songs. This goes into your flourish queue, so if you already have flourishes 5 and 2 ready to go, you won't pause until the third measure.

Use care with the /band commands. It is very rude to "take control" of your bandmates' performances unannounced. Generally, these are used by groups putting on an actual performance at an event, rather than a jam session in the cantina. If there is ever any doubt, don't use them.

Well Fehast there are a lot of light tricks that you can do but you must have those skills. Once you have tham you can go into your ablility tree and see wha the /command (cont+b) is for each one. One thing that I can say that I don't think a lot of Musicians/ Entertainers know that we have is the /sing command. It is a special chat bubble that only we can get.

Adding to the bandflourish you can also do

/bandflourish # nalargon

this will make it so that just nalargons do that flourish you can also do this with all other instruments

Useful commands not only for musician but must have when playing Nalargon/Ommni and being the leader group :

/join : join the band

/leave : leave the band

/invite xxx : invite player xxx to join the band

/makeleader yyy : transfer leadership to yyy

For singing :

Usually I like to describe what is the next song with /recite.

/recite : nice bubble effect

/sing : very nice bubble

/rap : strange bubble.

Last I checked /sing is not entertainer specific. It is just another type of chat bubble.

On the /bandflourish command, as someone pointed out you can flourish just one type of instrument. You can actually abbreviate this just like regular commands.. So for example:

/b 1 b - bandfill does flourish 1

/b 2 f - fanfar does flourish 2

/b 3 fi - fizzz does flourish 3

/b 4 n - Nalargon does flourish 4

And so on.. Dancers can use this too actually.. I take advantage of this when I'm doing coordinated dance/music/song routines..I have a single macro that the dancer/lead singer uses to coordinate the entire band. Actually the person doesn't have to be dancing, they can be just standing still too... See, unlike music you can start and stop dancing at will.. So for example if I'm just standing there and want the bandfill and mandoviol to do flourish 4 then 1, I'd do the following:

/startdance basic;/b 4 b;/b 4 m;/stopdance;/pause 1;/startdance basic;/b 1 b;/b 1 m;/stopdance

(Notice the pause there.. You can't stack bandflourishes rapidly like you can others.. Also make sure you stopdance before the pause.. I forgot at first and the singer ended up doing a quick shuffle every few seconds)

Obviously for this to work they have to have some entertainer skills, but novice entertainer is enough.
