Thread: More songs, flourishes, and effects coming; other dev feedback
Holocron just posted a long message on "remaining Correspondent issues." The post is at

It includes two or three items of interest to us Musicians:

There's more on the way for the entertainer types, though:
· More dances, more instruments, more songs, more flourishes, more effects. These are things we will add throughout the life of the game.

The first of these items -- /denyservice -- is going to Test Center shortly. Holo's post implies it only applies to Dancers, but the notes on Test suggest it extends to Musicians too. I don't think the remaining items (on new flourishes, songs, effects, and money-making) are in the current buildgoing toTest, but I'm glad to hear that the devsplan to add more songs and flourishes "throughout the life of the game."
So the devs have heard and understood the second item on our list (more songs and flourishes), and, to some extent, our third item (better gigs and content). The devshave not, however,said whether we should also expect a point-by-point response to our remaining three items (more distinct instrument sounds, /tip, integrating newbs into bands). I'll try to find it out if more feedback is coming and, if so, when. In the meantime, I'd be interested in your reactions to the excerpts I've quoted above.

In my preceding post, I forgot to highlight one of the most interesting tidbits in Holocron's post: he promised not only more songs, flourishes, and effects, but also more "instruments." Interesting.
well of corse that is super news but...
I still say we realy shold be asking for a way to make our own songs
every second spent on a new song could be spent on a note by note system
a make our own songs would last forever! and would give us Millions of songs with a not to hard to program song player
you can go out and buy these programs now a song maker and make songs or put in songs made by others
people who know nothing about sheet music not a problem jsut do a google serch and you will find an endless susply of pages of free and purchable sheet music
if they give a few songs here and there we will be kinda happy we will all be playing the same songs there will be no diffrence between group A and B (well very little) being able to make our own songs will make eachn group diffrent
people will sell songs on the bazaar or you go to a canteena listen and hear a great one talk to the musician and buy it trade it or whatever
people will post there songs and we will have an endless susply!
a good example of this is Neverwinter Nights
they made a adventure builder not just one dungeon that has always been done and people scream for years till the co makes another one but they gave the tools to make yourown
within days thousands were posted for downloading a little over a week hundreds were posted adn they flooded out in great numbers!

Holo one of the top dogs not only thought it was possible he fought long and hard for it
He knew the power of it and knew it could be done
so I think he knows more than us and it can be done!
we can ask for more songs and in a month get maby 4 or so
then maby 4 -6 months later get a few more
or in 2 months have millions of songs
you can be feed crumbs for ever or you can go out and hunt your own meals and eat like kings !

if the new insturments sound like the onld one and jsut look diffrent ill scream bloody murder!
new flourishes SUPER this will allow us some ability to kinda sorta make our own songs and I hope I dont haev to play with my teeth or feet anymore ! or wiggle my brests (unless I want too

but I haev to say one more time every ounce of effort put into new songs and flourishes could be put inot the tools for us to be able to play a million songs or more !
I'd rather not have them work on it.
Only a very few players could write a song that would be worth listening to, sothe devs would do a lot of work for a very small segment of the player population. And it would be a lot of work.....
Also, I do not want to hear someone's version of Britney or Aerosmith or whatever pop band is big right now in the game. No way.

- That's probably for the best, as it would be a licensing violation to use an artists' song without their permission.
Nraas you must not have read my post I know its long I have a lot of wind
do a google serch and you will find millions of sheet music for sale and free
people will share aned sell there music as well
you can even find the actualy songs sheet music from all the starwars movies
we can beg for them to keep making songs but they will only make a couple every now and then and we will always be wanting more or they can give us music making and we can have unlimited songs
the day after they do that you will be able to get a thousand songs for free id bet
and if somone is playing barney jsut dont listen to them
or we can just keep playing sw1 and sw2 and sw9
You_Myst, thanks for trying to find me. For what it's worth, the game may actually allow a name only once across all servers. I have "Rick" on Starsider but I couldn't re-create him on Chilastra, even though I've never seen a "Rick" on Chilastra. So it may be your own character that prevents you from duplicating her nameon Chilastra. But I'm not sure about this. Anyone know?
Also, I'm still interested in more comments on Holo's comments, excerpted in the first post in this thread.
heya newjedi, first off let me say i tried to run over to your server to meet up with you in-game, but my normal character name was actually TAKEN(really shocked on this one since its rather unique)
secondly and most important to this thread...
i have always been pro-/deny... but after actually witnessing a complete flop of an attempted entertainer strike(was a flop since they lost all clients since they moved to other worlds so they wouldnt have to deal with it again) i unfortunately see the /deny becomeing a bully tactic...
alot of people are going to /deny every player that enters a cantina(not me) and say something like 'pay this ammount up front to each entertainer here and we will remove you from the /deny list'
this IS going to reduce those type to a playground bully.. 'give me your lunch money and i wont pound you'
this analogy is sound on the grounds that yes, the playground bully will be the one to do the pounding(bullies tend to have backup to 'help' gain thier courage), for an entertainer, its more like a mob boss and 'protection' money... in this case... all the monsters in the game become the payment 'enforcers'... try and do combat with 500+ BF
the ONLY viable solution to making any kind of /deny work, is have it DIRECTLY tied to the ignore list...
that way it instantly stops the 'pay now or you dont get healed' since if you have to ignore to deny, you wont see /tip messages... thus they wont know if they can heal them or not... effectivly removing the extortionists, yes there is a way or 2 around even this, but its time consuming and a pain in the rear for client and band
if someone makes the ignore list of an entertainer... its most likely for a good reason(harasser) and they will never be willing to heal that person again anyway.

Holo tryed to get it in im sure if it wasnt possible for copyright laws or programing or internet he wouldnt have pushed so hard
if we all ask for it and it cant be done what happens? the dev jsut say we cant
if it is possible and we dont ask for it whats the worst that can happen well we get one or two new songs every couple of months and thats it
the only thing we haev to louse is us hearing that it cant be done
but we could be told it is possible they could work on it do it and then we haev unlimited songs!
we are realy hurting ourselves by not asking
This is REALLY Great news, will we able to try it out first on Test Center like next week?

/denyservice - Not sure I'd use it all the time, but as I'm a tool packrat, its a nice addition for the golf bag.
/register - This seems a bit basic at the moment. Nice, but if they could expand on WHO is registered at the place of registration, would give a nice promo view of who to expect. Perhaps make the name show up if its a Master Level registration. Okay, I'm perhaps wishing out of the bag for that one. =)

Well, the fireworks packages seem broken at the moment, or else no one has explained how we use them during a performance like they say.
Outdoor healing zones: Vreni Island has one in the ampitheatre, how about extending that to say the areas where all Nalargon/Omni Box combos are? Would draw better crowds... We did an outdoor event in Coronet on Bria, and it was very cool.. but it seemed to draw everyone out of the Cantina that was healing. Perhaps again if both Nalargon and Omni Box were going, it could create a healing zone. I was tooling through Mos Entha this evening and noticed an 'outdoor cafe'... is that a healing zone?
Afk people: I'm still mixed on this one. Each is an individual case it seems. Half them don't bother me at times, but ones that stand in the middle of the room taking up space for live folks.. that's just real bothersome. An /ejectafk to back of Cantina might be in order for a /registered healer.
