Thread: new idea! stim crafting for Musicians!

let musicians be able to make cd like things, that can heal(different types for each stat, and bf)
but less then if you were to listen to a musician and still have them take time to be fully used.
anyone could use them, but only musicans could make them, and the cds only heal the person who used
the cd. ok, i think i've gotten the basic idea around.


why this is a good idea;
gives musicians a way to make money
makes there be a reason to be a musician


someone may have said something like this before, but i've never seen it (first time i've ever read this board)
please, add any ideas you have.


i most likely wont be coming back to this topic, i just wanted to get the idea started, good luck all getting the devs to do something like this


guess you could do something like this for dancers as well...

The only problem with crafting is, we don't have any experimentation. I don't think we should.

I think that different levels of entertainer should get different holo-whatever schematics. This determines the length of music able to be stored. One schematic in the Entertainment Healing tree in Entertainer, one at master entertainer, one in the left tree of musician, and one at MM. Identical for dancers. Prevents dabbling. The power of the heal relies on the instrument used as well as the song. The type of holo-recorder or whatever determines the length of recording - although the heal is instant. Thus, a ME/MM playing a virtuoso on a Narg would be able to record on the MM holo recorder for, say, thirty minutes (10M for low level max capacity, 20 for elite level, 30minutes for master musician, and probably fifteen for ME), would heal a lot more mind than the low level one for a few minutes. Note that only the max amounts are posted, not minimum.

The requirements to use them should be the same level as the schematics... EXCEPT master entertainer. The master entertainer holo-playback should be able to used by ANYONE. Maybe this will be a good reason to push the mandoviol and ceremonial into those empty spots in musician....

Using this device would be simple. All they do is jam as best as they can, pop open the device, highlight, and click "record". Then, after the time-out, a system message appears saying "your holo-recorder has reached it's maximum", and stops. To use, you target the player and click it, OR, dropit on them. Simple to use. I do think they should only be one use.

Only one recording could be made at a time, however, a high level musician should be able to make multiple copies with low level recording devices at once.

I think this would be great, and should work the same for dancer too. With slight modifications, of course.

If this were to work, removing mind heal from CM would be smart.




see? this is what i didn't wait to type out, lol, i just wanted to throw the idea out, since it seemed like it might work well.

i dont mind the idea for having a "stim" like item for healing mind damage. but i think it should be used similar to a medic/doc stim. Entertainers/musicians/dancers make them, and they have a use value (like the med use on stims) Going up the entertainment/music/dance trees increases the use value u get (same as medic/doc) So this way, only entertainers can use them and keep the value of having an entertainer in the group to heal your mind dmg.Could add a good element for entertainer to be valuable in combat.


I dont think the way mind wounds are healed needs to change, already easy to do in a camp or cantina. And of course BF should be kept to the cantinas the way it is now.

This topic has been brought up before and every day being a citizen of a player city see the need for this more and more.. There are just way too many times that player cites just don't have an entertainer in the cantina to heal.. Unless you have a mule macro'ing toon, or do it yourself.. which I really don't like either of those two sceneros..


One major concen is that we don't want a new "cd" looking stim end up being the replacement for a live enterainer.. So this is what I suggest:


Wound Healing CD =



  • There would be 3 different crafted CD's (Mind, Focus, Willpower)

  • These crafted CD's would have a ONE time use charge like a vitality stim used on pets..

  • It would only be craftable by Elite musicians and Elite dancers..

  • Since there there are 6 levels to the elite profession (novice to master) there would have to be 6 different strengths..The strengths of the CD's would be fixed, not variable

  • Mind wound strength = (novice 10.. increasing up to master that would be 100)

  • Focus and Willpower wound strength= (novice 5.. increasing up to master at 50)

  • These CD's can ONLY be used in Cantinas/Theaters/Hotels and camps.

  • Make it so that the number of resources used make it so that the cost of these new CD's would be far greater then relying on a live entertainers.. Example: a starting novice cd might take 300 resources to make.. ending up with a1k-1.5k credit price tag when it hits the vendors.. A masters cd might take special resources or a vast number of resources like 2,000 resources giving it a6k credit price tag.

  • This promotes people to use live entertainers and tip them.. then to use the new CD's as a replacement.. HOWEVER, if no one is around, these can be used as a last resort.. I am fearful that too high of price on the cd's would have the same effect as not having an entertainer around..

BF CD =



  • These would be very much like Mind wound cd's.. healing anywhere from 10 -100 BF, depending on the strength of cd crafted by level of elite entertainer.

  • Again would range the resources and price to be 1K to 6k credits depending on quality of cd..

  • These cd's can ONLY be used in cantinas/theaters and hotels.... NOT camps.

In conclusion as you can see, there would be 4 different types of cd's taking care of the 4 different types of wounds us entertainers heal.. If people want to spend anywhere from 1k-6k ? for a single use CD, when no entertainer is around, then I'm all for it.. This would be a good add in the game to give entertainers additional value and something to do.. Plus would help curtail some of the problems of ghost towns and empty planets that combat classes have when they can't find a live entertainer to heal them.. Instead of forcing those people into burning 15 skill points to get entertainer, they have an option of buying cd's when needed, and use those 15 skill points elsewhere..
