Do differnet instruments give different amounts of XP?

Same as any other type of crafting -- the more resources used, the more xp generated. Roughly 2xp/unit of resource. Also, you get a small bonus for the 'complexity' of the item...which goes up the more you experiement on it, whether you fail or succeed on the experimentation. Finally, making things in practice mode gives you another 5% of xp.

Getting someone to use the instrument should get you more than making them in practice mode...but that won't do much for grinding the xp out unless you have another account that you can have sit there and play the instrument for as long as it takes to flourish on it, then destroy it and do the same to the next one. That would mean that you'd have to have two accounts that were both in Music, one making instruments and the other playing them. Generally not feasible, more than likely, since to play the harder instruments, you need more skill in Music.
