Thread: Question from a non-musician about 'pauses' between music tracks
This is something that I've noticed since day 1 of SWG... When musicians are playing music, and each little 4-5 second section completes, there is a definite "pause" before the second section is played.
I tried doing a bit of a search about this on here, but it's a little difficult to nail down the verbage that someone would have used.
I have a Sound Blaster Live Value, and there is nothing wrong with the card. All of the drivers are up to date, my codecs are updated, and I have no other sound issues in any other software title.
Am I the only one noticing this definite pause between music verses? Is this something that's always been known and will never be fixed? Is there something I can do on my end with settings to make it go away?
Thanks in advance for your replies!
Has anyone ever brought that up to the devs? Personally, as a musician in real life, if I was dedicating my time in the game to the musician profession, this would absolutely be on my top 5 list of things to fix. It takes away from the entire flow of a song if there is a 1/32 beat pause after every measure.

Yeah, I've seen a few messages on this. Pretty sure NewJedi know's about it as well.

Well, the last time I remember this issue being brought up, the person said they were a musician in real life. So that might be a good search phrase. But yes, it is there. It is annoying. I'm not sure if it's a pause or a missed beat. I think it is a pause, as I tried taking a song, slicing out the flourishes (That's what we call those 4 second bits of songs, theres 8 per song, plus the "idle" flourish, the lead-in, and the lead-out) and put them back-to-back without the pause, and it flowed very nicely. Actually, without the pause, it was more pronounced that some flourishes didn't work back to back with others. But if I found a good combination, it flowed. I also added a metronome beat to it, and it seemed to match up.
Maybe I'll have to dig up the files I have for that and put up a recording for those with a better ear to listen to.
