On the SWG Discussion board I heard a few people complaining about entertaining being dull and boring. This is probably a better place for this discussion so I will post this here.

>>SWG entertainer.. is about as boring as staring at a rock... BOOORRRRING..

A month ago I might have aggreed with you. I was getting tired of hanging out in the cantina so I grabbed some camps and headed off to join the war. Surely the empire would need some musicians. Doing this changed everything for me. I picked up a little marksman skill as well as medic ability. Now, with all this here is some of the things I can do.

A raid is about to start or just plain faction missions. We all gather at a cantina or detachment/tactical HQ and I heal everyone up and buff those who need it. On a raid this can be a lot of people so experience is good. Then, when that's done I grab my rifle and camps and it's off to battle. Now once the group is near the target. Camps are made and I continue my mind healing if needed. Then if I want I can take out my rifle and charge into battle, or hang back and heal people as they fall back. Now with medic and music ability, you become extremely usefull. You don't even have to be a master at either to make a difference.

Now I figured out the problem with entertaining was you were stuck in the cantina. But I found a way out and you can too! There is soooo much more out there. So pack up those dancing shoes, and instruments, and get in the war. Either side needs entertainers so go! Don't be in such a hurry to master your profession that you miss out on the real content outside. Most big guilds have a player city with a cantina or at least a tactical or detachment hq which has a cantina inside it.

Some are as dedicated to remaining neutral (and never getting involved in PvP) as we are to Music. /sigh Makes for a tough combo.

I'll just stick to my guns (metaphorically speaking, anyway ) that we should have the same consideration to pursue our craft as Medics/Doctors do.

Well, this is mostly aimed at those who are bored. I reallize that more instruments and songs are on the way, but till then there is other fun to be had.

he does have a point. But you dont have to join a side. I remain neutral and still do this! People hire me to come on raids with them and junk

Medics & Doctors can pull out a droid that was created with a medical module, and administer their woundpacks and enhancement buffs anywhere. The only limiting factor is being able to pull out a droid, which is easily gotten around in the field by putting up a scout's camp for a moment (and in a scout's camp, they don't need the droid anyway). From this vantage (with either a droid or in a scout's camp) they can do anything they can do in a Med Center.

Performers can't.

The best we can manage is to heal mind wounds and administer our buffs in a scout camp. I don't know about anyone else, but I find Fatigue to be far more troubling. High Battle Fatigue makes you incur more wound damage across the board, makes it harder for a medic/doctor to heal you of damage and wounds, is accrued very quickly in battle and takes longer to disperse than Mind Wounds.

I have, since beta, been more than a little frustrated that I'm forced to take care of my patients in a Cantina, but medics/doctors aren't required to go to a Med Center to do their healing. Which have you seen more of outside the game? A medical professional stitching up wounds and doing surgery on the sidewalk, or a musician busking for change? (That was a rhetorical question.) Why, then, are performers in the game shunted into dark bars and medics setting up a portable clinic in the Starport?

That's what I meant.

As for being bored...when I really can't stand being in the Cantina anymore, I head out and die a whole bunch sampling DNA from various wildlife. Man, being able to buff myself would sure help a lot in that instance!

I agree that at least higher level ranger camps should allow for the healing of battlefatigue. Your average scout camp should not.

There are other ways to get out of the cantina. Play gigs.

On Intrepid, many of the entertainers are represented by our agent Shayde. She books gigs to play weddings, guild openings, parties, etc. Our server is also the home of Groovefest -- a recurring galaxy-wide party with a nice paycheck for the entertainers. In addition, we have had two Intrepid Jam Bonanza contests that pit different bands against each other for a nice chunk of credits.

There are lots of way to find content without fighting in the GCW.
